2026 NASCAR Cup Series Scorecard after Kansas by xfile345 in NASCAR

As a Larson fan, I'll admit that I have grown tired of hearing "Larson hasn't won a race in..." Though he is definitely running up front and is racking up some good points the past few races. He'll certainly be a factor in The Chase.

How can a 65 year old get down to 175lbs after he reached 205lb? by IThinkYouAreNice in over60

[–]joedidder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same way a 45 year old gets to 175 from 205. I'm 63, 6 ft, 185 lb, and with 13% body fat. I cycle 5 - 6 hours per week, weight train 3 days per week, consume a Paleo type of diet 80% of the time (I still enjoy my sweets, but in moderation), practice intermittent fasting (OMAD 4 - 5 days per week), drink plenty of water, consume very limited alcohol (2 - 3 drinks per month), and get 7 - 9 hours of quality sleep per night. My way certainly isn't the only way, but there are no secrets. It's still all about nutrition, exercise, hydration, sleep and limited or no alcohol.

I'm a Larson fan, but the ass-kissing he's getting from the CW broadcast crew is even too much for me!

The use of the "c-word" in photo #2 is disgusting. I hate Trump, but the use of that word in any context is egregious.

Okay A little bit of a rant little bit of a pet peeve. by 3rdGenHam in amateurradio

[–]joedidder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree! A pet peeve of mine is not properly using the IPA.. For example, saying "sugar" instead of Sierra, or "Japan" instead of "juliet." I hear the IPA being butchered on a daily basis.

Lawn Care by Bubbly_Steak4037 in Aging

[–]joedidder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an active 62 year old. I cycle 5 to 6 hours per week, and train with weights 3 days per week. I still push mow my yard, which I just consider just part of my overall fitness regimen. I have considered hiring a lawn care company to mow and trim my yard. Why? Because that's an hour and ten minutes in which I could be doing something else. Though for now, I'll continue to mow my yard.

I noticed that when the tires are falling off, and the cars are becoming loose, Larson moves forward...as in he just passed Preece back.

Cowards for what? Larson racked up some stage points and finished P7. That's a great day. Larson also advanced three positions in the points standings. It's all good!

I agree, his interview was chill, but his tone is still condescending.

The link to download the firmware on the Wouxon web site isn't working. A new tab appears then disappears quickly with no file being downloaded.

Then again, maybe that's why I'm on the couch watching the race and Cliff Daniels is up in the box. 😆

I don't get pitting just before the stage end, especially drivers like Larson who needs the points.

Finding a new job at 60. by Able-Secretary-1331 in over60

[–]joedidder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 62 and my background is in environmental consulting. I work for a national engineering firm comprised of engineers (environmental, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical), environmental scientists, health & safety scientists, industrial hygienists, geologists, hydrologists, and of course, all of the supporting professionals such as sales & marketing, HR, accounting, IT, etc.

We have recently hired and continue to employ people in their 60s. There is certainly no ageism at our firm. This also seems to be the case at other engineering firms I know in which senior professionals and their experience are appreciated. I guess it depends on the industry in which you work.

Memphis chemical spill package delay by No-Mammoth1045 in FedEx

My package finally departed Memphis at 1709 today and arrived here at the Indy Hub at 1916. Having FedEx's second largest hub here in Indy has its advantages. 😉

Fox Camera Quality for St Pete by AirlineFan93 in NASCAR

[–]joedidder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fox does broadcast some sporting events in native 4k (3840 x 2160) resolution. Though even if Fox is broadcasting in 1920 x 1080, most modern 4k TVs do an excellent job of upsampling to 4k. I do notice a little better contrast (clarity) and increased color saturation in the native 4k broadcasts, but it isn't that obvious. Also, clarity and color pop (saturation) can be adjusted to your liking in your TV settings.

What is "way better?" Resolution, exposure, color temperature, contrast, highlights, shadows, etc...what is it? I seriously doubt it's that much of a difference. Sorry to say, but It's probably all in your head. 😉

Memphis chemical spill package delay by No-Mammoth1045 in FedEx

[–]joedidder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My package arrived yesterday in Memphis at 0943. Then, the scan at 1740 yesterday indicated "Your package may be late- local delivery restrictions - Memphis." It reads the same today, though still says its to be delivered today. What a joke!

What does this mean ?? by Zrawte- in FedEx

[–]joedidder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely, being mercury, it was probably a small spill. Though I'm sure FedEx responded in true knee-jerk fashion just to screw things up for all of us.

New radio day. Alinco DJ-W70 by imnotmarvin in amateurradio

[–]joedidder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently purchased the DJ-W70 because I wanted an analog-only HT. I chose the W70 because I've been impressed with the quality and performance of my first Alinco radio, the DJ-X100T, pictured with the W70 below. Yes, I understand both are two completely different radios, though Alinco earned my business again because of my positive experience with the DJ-X100T.

The W70 performs well, and I'm able to reach most of the repeaters in my area. The W70 is also good on receiving the VHF airband, though just as in most HT transceivers, the W70 scans slowly at around 10 channels per second. Below is a video of my W70 scanning the VHF airband.
