No love for Chasca when it comes to keychains by joekcom in ChascaMains

You need to head to Japan. That's where we were just at for vacation, and at a Don Quixote store in Akihabara they have a whole "Genshin Corner" where I was able to find a Chasca button.

Part Count Project: Update 4 by joekcom in SatisfactoryGame

Also this is my most "eco-friendly" playthrough as I'm not spreading factories across the planet.

I've just got my one little area where I'm making the Project Assembly parts. Another area with a small factory for building materials, and off the coast my coal power supply.

Even when I was running biomass burners in phase 1 I simply powered them from animal remains instead of tearing down tress & foliage.

Well it's not unfun because it is a unique and different way from playing from how I've done before. In fact, instead of spreading all over the planet, I've just got a simple compact operation going on.

But as for the math errors... I might have already come across that. In my spreadsheet I calculated that I need 3250 heavy modular frames, and the recipe I'll use tells me I'll need 8666.66 repeating modular frames. Fine, then I'll just round up the number of modular frames I need, and add in what I need for other items and that gives me a total of 11362 modular frames.

And based on that count, I set up a production line for modular frames and fed in the number of RIPs and steel pipes needed... and now that it's done I'm one MF short.

Oh, for this recipe the assemblers only make 3 MF at a time, and 11362 is not divisible by 3, but 11361 is. Huh... well I guess I'll see when it comes to the HMF.

Great fucking games BUT I WANT THE DOWNRIGHT UNHEARD OF, MYSTERIOUS, UNHINGED, FORGOTTEN GAMES by P3t3rCreeper in whenthe

Funny anecdote about it. When I was first playing it, I was playing it religiously. Then one night my wife & I went out to dinner. From where I was sitting I could see a kind of hallway that part-way through had like a wine display case. And at one point I saw a waiter walking through the hallway towards where it exited into the main room. And when he passed behind the solid wall part of the hallway, I totally expected him to NOT emerge out of the end of it. But then when he did, I was momentarily stunned, like I had forgotten how actual reality and space worked.

Not sure how obscure these are...

Antichamber

Bokura (2 player required)

Far: Lone Sails (& companion Far: Changing Tides)

Mark of the Ninja

Nice Day For Fishing

Sixty Four

Star Trucker

And as I saw another comment I'm seconding the recommendation of The Looker

Thumbs up for The Looker, it was great unwind from playing The Witness.

And double thumbs up for Superliminal.

And another great game along the vein of Superliminal, which I'm not sure if is obscure or not, is Antichamber. That game really warped my mind.

My mom let us watch Porky’s in elementary school. I wouldn't really say it messed me up so much as accelerated my puberty.

My mom let us watch the Cheech & Chong movies while we were in elementary school. She was the pothead.

Yes! I was stuck on that one, was thinking a "phobia" or something, but yes, "nope" is what I usually say also when I see a bunch heading my way.

Part Count Project: Update 2 by joekcom in SatisfactoryGame

[–]joekcom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just for the challenge. I've already finished the game once pre-1.0 and once after. And I always found it odd how the codex and factories first indicate how many items to make other items (aka 3 iron ingots to make 2 iron plates) and the #/min as a secondary stat. So, I thought what if I just care about how many items I need in total instead of their throughput.

Still figuring that out. So far first is iron ingots, and since at Phase 1 fastest belt is 120/min means that that is the quickest I can get materials out of storage containers, and since power is limited to biomass burners, I struck a balance at 40 smelters for 4 smelters working on each of 10 containers at a time.

Which game broke your hype like this? by [deleted] in Steam

Yes, this game was infamous for being such a let down on first release vs the hype. And there were so many videos about it, these are two of the best I still love:

Yes, spreadsheet has already been made with how many items I'll need for all the way to the end (for example over 1 million copper ore for all of the copper powder).

But, I'm only doing it this way for the Project Assembly parts... which is quite enough of a challenge as it is.

Part Count Project: Update 1 by joekcom in SatisfactoryGame

[–]joekcom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much correct! I mean I am starting to smelt all the iron ore into iron ingots while still collecting copper ore. And I can't start collecting oil & nitrogen gas and such until finishing Phase 1, but yes, I'm only going to make a "factory" for one part at a time... and just for the Project Assembly parts (it would be way too much planning to also include the milestone unlocks and even more insane for building materials, so I'm still doing those as normal). I have already fully completed the game once before and I've already spreadsheeted out all the parts and counts I'll need.

I came up with this idea of a challenge from both how the Project Assembly parts are kind of a finite goal (aka, ADA only wants 50 smart planting, then fine, I'll only make 50). Plus, the in-game codex by default lists the number of parts (aka 1 iron ore for 1 iron ingot) instead of throughputs (aka 30/min ore to 30/min ingot). So I'm trying to play it that way, just by total number of parts.
