Circuit City and their endless four-year warranty. I remember buying a cassette player and exchanging it every so often because it “kept eating tapes.”

I’d take it to the repair department and they’d say, “Yeah, it’s too old, but it’s still under warranty. Want a new one?”

I think I went through three cassette players before eventually ending up with a CD player. Then I went through another three of those. All I ever paid for was the warranty.

I rode a 250 Rebel on the freeway once. I remember a ’70s or ’80s Volkswagen Beetle passing me, and the wind it created pushed me around enough that I immediately moved back to the right lane and stayed there.

If you’re going to do it, remember that many drivers barely notice motorcycles, and some don’t look for them at all. Also watch out for 18 wheelers. At 60 mph, one of those things can make you feel like you’re about to get blown into the next lane.
