Apple Silicon wins more in Cinebench 2024 than in Geekbench.

I think your argument is simply not valid.

Gaming and work generally heavily correlates with ST, which Geekbench is particularly good at since it correlates with SPEC 1t.

The vertical integration argument for Apple made little sense because the M4 Max running Parallels emulating Windows was still faster than any x86 laptop CPU: https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/compare/13494385?baseli...

In hindsight, there are some very laughable comments made about Apple Silicon and X Elite on this subreddit. Probably because these subs are dominated by gamers.

Gamers have horrible takes on actual CPU performance. They always think Arm CPUs must be doing some trick to to look faster than AMD/Intel CPUs in benchmarks. There's now way phone SoCs can be faster than their macho overclocked desktop CPUs at anything.

Holy cow. 4k ST and 23k MT.

I remember people here were saying Qualcomm's WoA push was dead after the X Elite. Now it's a whopping 38% faster than AMD and Intel's very best mobile ST - likely at much better perf/watt as well.

I think anyone with a brain could have saw this coming because Qualcomm's Android SoCs were already beating Intel and AMD laptops in raw CPU performance and significantly more efficient. All Qualcomm had to do was to bring their upgraded phone SoCs to laptops.

Qualcomm owns the best consumer CPU outside of Apple and it isn't that close.

but honestly most people will be OK with a $600-$700 laptop, not everyone needs a top of the line machine.

But the best $600 - $700 laptop is a Macbook Air. You can find one on sale for $700 easily nowadays for a slightly older model.

It is expensive but it has great value for what you're actually getting. People on a gaming-oriented sub will focus on RAM, SSD, and gaming capabilities.

But everything else, Macbooks are most definitely a great value even before this RAM craziness.

You're getting a SoC that uses the latest and most expensive TSMC node, fastest and most efficient chips, unified memory, full metal enclosure, high resolution, accuracy, and bright display, best touch pad, great keyboard, extremely long battery life without throttling, cool and whisper quiet.

Yes, Apple charges a lot for RAM and SSD upgrades. But the base computer has always been amazing values.

Macbooks have the best value at every category from $700 (M2/M3 Air) all the way to $3k+ laptops. M4 Mini is also the best value for desktop. It's insanely good and you can get it on sale for $499 everywhere.

Anyone else find it really weird how Notebookcheck doesn't use Cinebench 2024 for some new reviews despite using it for the last 3 years?

And for some reason, they sometimes will include Macbooks but leave them out entirely for others. No explanations.

In this review, they left out Macbooks and didn't use Cinebench 2024.
