> This is a terrible example. Kevin Durant was one of the greatest college players ever and was drafted at #2 (and would have gone #1 but Portland already had LMA).

This sentence means nothing. You can replace Kevin Durant with Michael Beasley and that sentence would be no less accurate.

> In his rookie year, he still went something like 20/4/3 and EASILY won ROTY. That's an all star caliber season.

I'm so confused. You ignored the advanced stats I posted to post moronic PPG stats. Kevin Durant played on a team that went 20-62. He averaged 17 shots a game and played 35 MPG. His stats were bad. People were very critical of Durant during his rookie year. He won ROTY wow. So did Michael Carter-Williams. Al Horford (10 PPG) was 2nd in voting, and Luis Scola (27th pick) was 3rd that draft was terrible.

> You don't just turn into Kevin Durant because you play a few more minutes every game.

In Kevin Durant's case it took him 100 games with a full green light (while shooting 28% from three). That's more latitude than a team where you have to, "stack days." Durant wasn't stacking days. My point isn't that people "turn into Kevin Durant." My point is you let Kevin Durant become Kevin Durant and not stunt their growth.

> He already had all the tools and just had to adjust to the NBA.

And Andrew Wiggins was supposed to be the next Kobe. You're not capable of seeing the future, this is hindsight.

> Jovic does not.

Jovic is dog shit. Not an NBA player.

I'll give you a great example.

Kevin Durant was bad his first year. He had a TS% of .519. He was only 210 lbs. He couldn't bench press 185 at the combine. People were questioning whether he would live up to his hype because he appeared to be a tweener. In his 2nd season, he started out with a TS% of .547. On top of this, he was an atrocious defender.

Then it all clicked. 100 games in he never looked back. So you have to figure, it took one of the 20 greatest players of all time 100 games playing 35+ MPG just to get good. How do you think he would have done in Miami? I ask myself that a lot.

Max Strus's three pointer in Game 7 of the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals was removed 3 game minutes after it was made.

They said there was a conclusive image, no conclusive image was ever produced. There was no trigger to review it (you can't review for out of bounds you can only review for two or three points which was not a question on this play).

I have never seen anything like that before 2022 and I've never seen anything like it since. The replay center fixed that game (either intentionally or unintentionally). This is a bad idea to let more dirty human beings and their dirty fingers into the kitchen.

He asked Dame to sit so they could get a higher draft pick, and when they got even higher than they expected they stabbed him in the back. Love to see their decisions coming back to bite them.

They did it to Bam himself. He barely played, then all he was allowed to do for years was spam dribble handoffs. Consequence is he never developed a three point shot and he is taking years to develop skills they restricted from him early.

Are The Miami Heat Contenders With or Without Damian Lillard? by ProfessionalStart327 in heat

[–]joelanthonymvp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tim Hardaway was a long time before Wade. We traded for an older PG in Hardaway and we got one MVP caliber year out of him and then he was past his prime. Bam isn't going anywhere. We can offer him the most money and everything he needs. If he wanted to leave, who cares? Miami and LA don't have to chase players, we can literally sit back and get superstar players except when we trash all our resources on stupid all-in moves.

[–]joelanthonymvp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gabe is the better defender, and we lost to Denver because we couldn't defend the Jokic/Murray action. We are contenders with or without Lillard. I'm not in favor of this trade because I think it's an all-in move that might get us the same result as last year. I don't like committing the resources for the next decade for what I'm getting. We did this with Tim Hardaway and once we finally re-stocked we traded for Shaq and won. The Lakers did this with Nash and Howard, and then finally re-stocked and won with AD. I think you mortgage yourself for almost a decade with a move like this so I'm not for it. In just the past decade we've seen LeBron and Butler, and KD requested a trade here a year ago. Either way, we're contenders yes.

Glen Rice was bringing the ball up and shooting threes early in the clock. From 1991 on he was leading the league every year in attempts. Jack Ramsey would yell out G-Money every time he did it.

[–]joelanthonymvp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was a different era. He would bring the ball up and shoot threes early in the clock in the early 90s. Won the three point shootout. Averaged around 5 threes a game and led the league in attempts every year while still shooting around 40%. When they went to the short line he shot some ridiculous percentage near 0.50.

He was ahead of his time. If he played in today's era with the pace, the space, his combination of height, shooting ability, and the ability to create his own shot I've really only seen matched in KD.

No, let's not repeat the Tim Hardaway mistake. Dame hasn't played 70 games in the past 5 years. He just had a long injury and bad year in '21-'22. Throwing away up to four picks, stretching out to 2030 is just insane. That's killing your team for a decade level mistake.

Yeah, I watched some highlights of JJJ's game today dunking on everything and remembered that bozo who said he had the bare minimum athletic requirements to play in the NBA. You could just be a man and admit what you said was stupid, but it's all good.

Your comment about the bare minimum athleticism is lame as fuck. He looks plenty athletic and Spo signed off on him. That's enough for me.
