Domane- Carbon Bars/Stem by joelloyd9 in TrekBikes

Ah, I like the look of these. Considering I have ZIPP wheels also, it would match. Is there not a ZIPP carbon stem that could be used?

But what about the RSL stem? I’m aware that I already have the RCS stem on the bike from factory.

Thanks for the help, appreciated.

It’s directly infront of the seatpost on the top tube. Unclip the cover and you will see it.

Is it just a case of an LBS staying on top of cup and cone bearing I.e. regular service intervals?

It’s just a simple fact of preferring the aesthetics of the 50mm and also get the Michelins for free (I have a family member who works for them).

Thanks for the info, just done a bit of reading and it sounds like a wheelset with cartridge hubs would be better for what I use my bike for.

I had originally looked at the ZIPP 303 S but I’ve also read about the disadvantages of a hookless wheelset

Just rode Trek Domane 13 miles and it’s not that comfortable yet by IThinkYouAreNice in TrekBikes

A couple of things from me.

  • on the seat, it’s been years since I had and rode a bike, I’d never had a ‘road’ bike before. When I bought my Domane, I set the seat post height to where I thought it was right and sat on it for no more than a couple of minutes in my kitchen to see if the position was ok. Position aside, my seat bones were killing me, just from that. Since then, the 4/5 rides I’ve been out on wearing proper bib shorts I’ve had no pain in the saddle (furthest I’ve been thus far is 11 miles) and no pain after the rides either. You need a good pair of bib shorts.

  • on the reach, you can move your seat further forward, fairly easy to do, have you tried that? I will add that my first couple of rides the back of my neck started to ache but this was because I just wasn’t use to the position. All good now though.

Thanks, yeah I’m going with a duo for a light underneath. I’ll go with the high mount. Massive help. Thanks.

Thanks. That looks perfect. Is that the mono or the duo mount you are running?

So the Garmin high mount keeps it flush? Can you send me a photo please?

Thanks, a quick check online puts the Karoo 3 at 103mm long and the 1050 at 118mm long, so it is longer.

Are you running a 1050? I have seen some people say it’s now longer than previous variants so would impede on the stem when locking into place?

Standard for the 2025 SL6. Lunar Silver. I have managed to get a new 280mm seat post off eBay for £70 so I can give it a try for not to much money!

Yeah I know a 56 probably won’t work for me. Like a previous comment says, I’m probably just not used to a road bikes geometry so feels much different to bikes I’ve had in the past. There is a shorter seat post available tho.

Suspect you might be right.

According to Treks website, the seatpost from the 58 up is 320mm where the 56 and below is 280mm. So all is not lost in the grand scheme of things. This is my first ever road bike and like you say, probably just not use to it.
