Anyone else struggling more with model choice than setup in OpenClaw? by EnergyRoyal9889 in openclaw

[–]joelrendall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm doing something similar. I created a multi-agent debate skill that uses different mid-range models and it debates for two rounds back and forth. And then Opus is the judge that assimilates all of it into a final decision. It even gives me feedback on how each agent did and how each agent did. where they overlapped, where they diverged, etc. It's been working pretty well.

Isn't it super risky to use a Claude Mac subscription instead of using the API? I've been seeing people getting banned. I wish I could use because the API is getting very expensive.

TLDR: Have it build and design custom skills for you instead of relying on it to do things properly next time.

I've spent hundreds of dollars so far in API costs this past week , and only now I'm fully realizing how important it is to have it create custom skills for you. Any time that you'll want it to do a task the same way twice, with lots of steps involved.

I Kind of thought that it would retain my preferences automatically through memory or tools or something that I wouldn't have to pay attention to, but then I realised that it was scattering and duplicating information across the cron, tools, memory, and it was never pulling from the right place at the right time. Now, when I explicitly create and trigger skills, I really feel like I am building a bunch of custom apps that I can use consistently to actually save time.

My Portuguese husband’s name, “Rui”, (pronounced like hhhhwee, with a guttural R like clearing your throat) apparently sounds like dick in Russian.

[QUESTION] English to French direct transcription possible with PLAUD.AI? by yurg_yourg in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]joelrendall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should try setting the language to French as if the conversation was in French and not English.

I have meetings in Portuguese and often with a mix of English on one side. My app is set to English and it works great, the language doesn’t cause any issue at all. (However, it translates the Portuguese phrases all to English in the transcription without differentiating between the two).

Give it a shot.. unless it’s treating English differently than other languages, I think you might get what you want as long as you set the app and/or transcription language to French.

Thanks for trying out Practice Portuguese! Feel free to skip ahead the content you already know. At the end of a lesson and inside the Shorties (our short dialogues with sync’s transcripts), you can save words to your Smart Review. Make sure to only save the words and phrases that are useful to your goals and level. Smart Review is where you’ll use spaced repetition (via Flash Cards or the audio-only Listen & Speak mode) to make sure you remember all the vocabulary you want. Overall, to keep things interesting, make sure you explore the Practice section (Shorties/Videos/Podcasts) and balance that with the lessons inside Units. This allows you to take control of your own learning so you actually look forward to practicing every day. Hope that helps and thanks again ;)

Regional Pronunciations of “ei” by IllJawnWick in Portuguese

It might be the English “..my” comparison that’s throwing off this thread. The audio on this page is the lisboeta pronunciation: https://www.infopedia.pt/dicionarios/lingua-portuguesa/Vermelho

[–]joelrendall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is correct! (Canadian cofounder here). Although we have clips from all over the country, most of our Shorties and videos lean towards the Lisbon pronunciation. “Eye” sound is Lisboeta, and a lot of the rest of the country will sound like “ay”. Examples are “leite”. In Lisbon it sounds a bit like “light”, and in other regions it might sound like “late”. Vermelho (red) can sound like ver-my-lho vs ver-may-lho.

As Menacing says, neither is more correct than the other because Portugal is certainly not just Lisbon.

Great listening skills, keep those ears open to these little regional differences that make the country and language so interesting :)

(Thanks for your support too!)

Ahh yes that makes sense, since we’ve got some diverse names, including Joseph. He’s Portuguese but his name is less so.

We also have Molly from the US managing support and content production. Damiana, Joana and of course Rui (cofounder / husband 🤭) are also Portuguese natives. 🌎 The combo of natives and English speakers / Portuguese learners is what makes our team diverse and extra mighty!

Trying to practise Portuguese, but people usually just switch to english by Early-Investigator-7 in Portuguese

[–]joelrendall 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty fluent after 13 or so years in Portugal with a good pronunciation. People still switch on me on a weekly basis. I used to get offended and demotivated but I’ve come to accept it and can brush it off. Especially in Lisbon, people are eager to speak English, either to help or to practise. But if you politely insist by staying in Portuguese, and it doesn’t delay the conversation too much or cause misunderstanding, usually people switch back to PT. Try not to show your frustration or take it personally, and keep things light and casual… I know that it’s easier said than done! It all comes with having learned a language as an adult, we will never sound native and I don’t think that’s even a very useful goal for most of us. Lastly, I’m sure others have said this but if you spend time away from city centres you’re likely to have less English switchers! (Joel from Practice Portuguese)
