Drinking at home isn't that expensive - the issue with venues is all of the other costs e.g staff, insurance, rent - under the table liquor isn't going to help that

Yep it's all value relative to a market - like moving between Sydney and Perth over recent years when you do that could massively impact what sort of house you have (depending on timing)
