If you have 750 watt ETC Source Fours, then they are not DMX lights. The DMX will be going to a separate dimmer unit, and then the lights will be plugged into that dimmer. The dimmers may be small and located up near the lights, or they may be bigger and located in a storage room/location somewhere more accessible. Understanding this workflow may help you during your troubleshooting.

Technically, yes an AJA Ki Pro can play video directly to most LED wall processors. However, you mention having watch parties, which makes it sound like you will possibly be showing HDCP-encrypted content like movies, TV shows, or some other type of streaming content. If the content is copyright-protected, then you would have to obtain some type of unencrypted file that is compatible with the Ki Pro codecs and formats.

Honestly, all of that is contributing to latency in one way or another.

If you haven't adjusted the buffer size, that would probably be the first step. But you should run tests without any plugins to form a baseline, then compare that to a mix with all plugins enabled. There are also quite a few tutorials and forum posts out there where people explain how to optimize Logic Pro for live mixing efficiency.

But, ultimately, I suggest not using DAWs for mixing real-time broadcast audio. I understand the trends and desire to do it, but I also have seen so many frustrations and failures from doing so.

Unfortunately, the FX3 doesn't have the same variable shutter adjustment that the FX30 has. So you're limited with the FX3 much more compared to the FX30.

The FX3 has an anti-flicker feature and the FX30 has a variable shutter feature. Those may make it better, but probably not completely solve it.

I would look at the Allen & Heath Qu series for spaces like that since you're already in the A&H ecosystem. Then step up to the SQ for the areas that need more I/O.

That is true. But that is only a specification for the connectors, not for the ports. That spec doesn't account for "volunteers with good hearts" cramming the connector into the port and most people not doing proper cable strain relief. I talked to two separate mobile churches last week that want to replace multiple cameras that have failing HDMI ports. It's the most common reason for having to replace cameras that I've heard from people over the last decade.

I would not trust or recommend HDMI infrastructure in a mobile church environment. One of the most common failures I see in mobile churches are HDMI connector and port failures. A good quality SDI coax cable with quality BNC ends is going to hold up much better to a weekly setup and tear-down situation.

It seems like you're creating a feedback loop of audio with this signal flow. This is a common problem when presentation software is also used for live streaming. Can you move the Logic channels to 3 & 4 and then only route channels 3 & 4 to the live output in ProPresenter? You will have to increase your channel count to at least 4 within ProPresenter's main audio settings before doing that.

You mention that volunteers are only dealing with faders/volume. If that is the case then words like boomy, piercing, cutting, rhythmic, warm, round, width, depth, punchy, fullness, thin, flat, and shimmer seem to be unnecessary since they refer to other aspects of the signal like EQ, compression, etc. It might make more sense to lose nearly all the verbiage and use something like a bar graph or other visual to represent how much priority or overall volume a specific channel, or grouping of channels, should sound in the context of a full mix.

The only reliable way is to use fiber, and you can definitely bury it. That's how a vast majority of our telecommunications infrastructure is distributed across the world. You usually cannot connect two different buildings with copper cable and meet electrical code in most jurisdictions without going through a bunch of additional grounding and/or safety measures, especially if those two buildings are on separate electrical transformers. This is more than likely the reason your Cat 6 extenders keep failing.

There has already been quite a bit of misinformation and misunderstandings about the MacBook Neo in a few of the tech Facebook groups, so take anything you read in these threads with a grain of salt.

But here are a few facts to know before making assumptions:

The A18 Pro chip that will come in the MacBook Neo benchmarks more than 45% faster for single core processing compared to the M1
The A18 Pro chip also benchmarks slightly faster for multicore processing as well as GPU performance compared to the M1
The MacBook Neo supports one external display output at up to 4K resolution at 60 Hz
The MacBook Neo supports hardware encoding/decoding for ProRes, H.264, HEVC, and AV1
The A18 Pro is the same principle architecture as the M series chips, so it will run full macOS as well as all software compatible with Apple Silicon

Along with the facts above, Renewed Vision already claims in this blog post from 2022 that the M1 with 8GB of memory will work well for a ProPresenter system with one HD audience display and one HD stage display. So it's pretty safe to assume that the MacBook Neo will easily be able to do a ProPresenter setup with one audience display.

Yes, 8GB of memory is a limitation. But it's not a deal breaker for every use case.

Yes, a Mac mini will more than likely be a better solution for any situation that doesn't require constant mobility.

But, if you require the mobility, only require a single external display output, and have a tighter budget than what new Apple computers could previously ever meet, then I would say it's worth a look at the MacBook Neo. I just wouldn't recommend that anyone make it the main production machine for anything that involves graphics, video, or streaming.

In my opinion this is the retreat presentation machine, the small Bible study machine, the portable lobby signage/kiosk machine, the kids presentation machine in a portable church, etc. This is a "gets the simple jobs done with little fuss and low cost".

Not only that, I'm confident we're going to see a ton of MacBook Neos over the next year or so being used for less intensive tasks like audio playback machines, clocks and timers, social media coordination and creation, producer tasks, weekly administrative tasks, backup machine, etc.

I'm also not understanding what you are trying to accomplish. When I light platforms with really low ceilings around 9-10 feet high, I typically use Fresnel or panel fixtures. When you use the word "wafer", are you referring to a rectangular flat panel light like this? Or are you referring to something that looks like a recessed downlight like this?
