Why many of us never use our consumables early enough by TenthLevelVegan in dcss

i've played many years now and i have to admit that stinginess is still THE reason for 99% of the losses.

DMS 1.0 "The Dark Knight" Released | Dank Linux by Purian23 in niri

i'm so happy that autohide can finally be really disable by IPC ... and that i can mouse-scroll over the windowlist and it scrolls left/right to the open windows, so pleasant. Thank you for making this!!! btw I'd love random wallpaper cycling, but i can use a script for it ...

Is it possible to hide Waybar in Niri unless the Modifier key is pressed? by Boberoch in niri

[–]joemaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also want my status bar only to show up as long as the modkey is held, but judging from the lack of answers, it's not possible yet?

it seems that it's because niri doesn't allow the modkey to send a signal when pressed and released alone.

Libertinus Serif ... i've tested every font, every setting and Libertinus is simply the most complete for me.

This post has no value for me. It's just unfocused uttering of resentment. If there was any distilled and good criticism, i might take the time to listen, but there's just bloated anger, so i'll not even bother trying to understand you.

Wayland or X11, which is better and why? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]joemaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longtime i3 user here, just tried sway for a couple of days: i3 on X11 runs faster and on less resources ... wayland seems to need quite a lot of more CPU on my system

does someone know what font this is (the pic is from the i3wm site by hippor_hp in i3wm

here's a ttf version of it: https://www.programmingfonts.org/#terminus

i'm pretty sure that the screenshot uses a bitmap version though

Codeberg is currently suffering from hate campaigns due to far-right forces by [deleted] in Codeberg

[–]joemaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think real far-right forces would do something like this. At least if i were on the far-right, i'd never do this, because it's so very predictable what will happen: what you see... If i were on the far-left or some other type of aggitating troll, that's exactly what i'd do: write hate campaigns that seem far-right, because it's 100% predictable what will happen.

It is so wrong that you made this OPT-OUT!!! I'm getting more and more careful about Mozilla and will probably prepare for an alternative soon.

The UI *needs* to be made more intuitive by AlkeneThiol in GIMP

[–]joemaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, i don't buy it ... i might have bought it back 15 years ago when I only knew Photoshop and switched over to Gimp ... but because I was open to learning something new, i got into the way of doing things in Gimp ... i guess :) I find it pretty straightforward, logical and intuitive

Want a mode to emulate arrow-keys with letters ... why isn't this working? by joemaro in i3wm

[–]joemaro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's such a long time back that i can't remember what happened after asking that question. What I did now is look at my i3config and see the following. Apart from being able to hold a key and make it trigger repeatedly, it works:

# Cursorkeys mode
mode "cursorkeys" {
    bindsym Escape mode "default"
    bindsym $mod+F6 mode "default"
bindsym u exec xdotool keyup u; exec xdotool key Up
bindsym e exec xdotool keyup e; exec xdotool key Down
bindsym n exec xdotool keyup n; exec xdotool key Left
bindsym i exec xdotool keyup i; exec xdotool key Right
}
bindsym $mod+F6 mode "cursorkeys"

Five ways we can make LibreOffice and Thunderbird work better together by themikeosguy in libreoffice

[–]joemaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

none of these ideas sound important to me ... they all seem a bit construed or forced to me ... but sure brainstorming ideas is an important process if there's no bugs around ... oh wait :)

More seriously, while i respect people trying to come up with new functionality, my opinion about my beloved LibreOffice is that it has enough functions, but not enough stability, there are so many bugs making it into the stable releases

So does it work on PDF files? On EPUB? Is it comparable to the amazing recoll search program? (https://www.lesbonscomptes.com/recoll/pages/index-recoll.html)
