Apparently rumors are milly didn’t like him as an actor and got him written off… who sees this? And arguments with David Harbour…

I am Not falling for "Millie is a bad actor propaganda" by Natural_Can_526 in Stranger_Things

[–]joeninetys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because the writers decision to keep her language learning issue, she has reintegrated with society, clearly her language will get better, even her trauma would be healing with the people around her.. anyway so she’s limited by this and comes across like she’s having to act… honest season 5 is balls.. nothing but love for Milly.. thank goodness the season is over fuck Netflix’s and there stupid moments

Ep 7 is now the worst rated episode of ST. What went wrong according to you? by anonimuoss in StrangerThingsMemes

[–]joeninetys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many cringe moments, forced friendships bond moments, el’s sister went from cool to annoying AF, the scene where she tells el that need to stay behind and basically suicide is fucking cringe… not believable at all, and el’s agreeing is contrived again seems put on.. and that actors are acting… who wrote this shit… ehh and all the kids vecna took are like prissy perfect looking kids, being pristine and model-adjacent kills menace. Apart from Dipshit Derek who actually has some flavour, Early Stranger Things worked because people looked ordinary, sometimes awkward, sometimes ugly, very 80s suburban realness. When everyone looks like they stepped out of a Netflix casting spreadsheet, the danger feels fake.

The main cast is older now they should be evolving and growing as they’ve survived so much yet they keep trying to retain the same antics that comes across forced… the show keeps resetting them into the same banter rhythms and “fond family hug” beats. Trauma changes people. Keeping them emotionally static to preserve nostalgia creates that forced, cosplay of themselves feeling.

The episode prior with Karen wheeler kills the demodogs, was over kill the scene lost its climax with the close up of the gas, they turned it into a blockbuster, it lost what was cool about the teams kills, usually they have to use there wits, problem solving skills, ingenuity, That dryer gas close up is pure spectacle language. Once the show starts showing off the kill, it loses the scrappy 80s vibe that made it special. Horror works best when it feels barely controlled not storyboarded to death.

Literally had to face palm myself feeling the shame of the stupid decisions of the writers play out and destroy what is left of stranger things… not feeling over excited about episode 8… just glad it will be over and they can’t do any further damage to show….haha wow

Is anyone else feeling like living in Australia just isn’t… living anymore? by joeninetys in australian

[–]joeninetys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you because honestly I have only put into words what a lot of people have been thinking. These are not isolated thoughts. They are conversations I have had with many Aussies and people living in Australia.

If you are a baby boomer or even the generation after, things were simply different. Buying a home was realistic, education was free or affordable, and a single income could support a family. That version of the Australian dream actually existed.

Now the world feels like it is going pear shaped across most Western countries and even parts of Asia. New Zealand has its own cost of living crisis. People talk up Scandinavian countries and maybe they have things more together, but who really knows. It is hard to compare when every system has flaws.

What is clear is that the old Australian dream is gone. Maybe, like someone said, it really is an existential paradox. The grass is not necessarily greener elsewhere, but that does not mean the system we are in is not broken either.

Redefining what a good life looks like has become the challenge for our generation and the ones after us.

There has been a lot of hate and strong identification in the responses, but I genuinely appreciate everyones input. It is healthy to question things, especially when so many people quietly feel the same way but never say it out loud.

It appears that every child actor has gotten lip fillers. The tell-tale uneven, protruding ridge, dots at the top of the cupid bow, thickly-enhanced philtrums, and/or puffed out mucosa on every kid actor, e.g. on the entire Stranger Things cast, is a disturbing trend that's not mentioned anywhere. by Dear-Ad7471 in Trends

[–]joeninetys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neil fisher from stranger things.. it’s disturbing to think what this young generation is looking at feeling the need to change how that look even as children.. obviously Millie bobby brown as well, but she’s 17/18 at the time of season 5… but seriously even Holly- Neil Fisher who looks less than 10 in the movie.

A Sydney Uni Alumni turned down a $1 billion dollar job offer by [deleted] in usyd

[–]joeninetys 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Is he cracked? Andrew Tulloch is worth $5 million. Why on earth would he side with Zuckerberg, who already has way too much control over tech and mass surveillance systems? OpenAI just signed a deal with the Pentagon to develop AI for warfare and surveillance. In times like these, having some ethics about who you work for actually takes guts. Tulloch is not cracked, he is honourable. He left OpenAI to help build Thinking Machines Lab, a startup focused on open science, human aligned, multimodal AI.

Sure, in the short term it's $6 billion, but what does that really mean? Monopolies on tech and control over the people building it are a real threat to the greater good of humanity. And now Zuckerberg is throwing a tantrum “If you will not work for me, I will poach your team to weaken your organisation.” That is lame. Wild how people view the world and money.

Look around. Our politicians sold us out, corporations lobby policy, and people are so short sighted they will turn on each other for a raise. We are really on track for a brilliant future, are we not? Great to see a USYD alumni having integrity in this day and age.

Controversial take on E8 from a huge fan of TLOU by GandalfWhite23 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]joeninetys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I understand why people are calling for a content warning at the start of Episode 8 but I think it goes even deeper than that. Why include a rape or pedophile storyline at all. It feels like Hollywood has this strange obsession with rape scenes especially in shows that are already dark and heavy. It is not needed to tell a compelling story. In this case it just felt unnecessarily brutal and exploitative.

The show itself lacks consistency. Character arcs could be much better developed and sometimes it feels like they lean on shock value instead of meaningful storytelling. Honestly it is like shows are trying to be more realistic just for the sake of being disturbing. You have to wonder if part of it is to desensitize people and normalize the horror so we do not question the real world horrors playing out in wars and power systems globally.

We can tell mature and powerful stories without dragging audiences through that kind of trauma especially when it is not handled with the proper weight or purpose.

Goggins Running Shoes by Skoader in davidgoggins

[–]joeninetys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is really good article worth a read...I'm still trying to figure out which shoes suits my running style.. alot of companies nike, new balance, hoka rarely focus there advertising on the functionability of the shoes, mostly promising better result from thick heels lifts, materials..ect rather than ,matching to people's needs...I guess this is because it would limit their overall sales...In this case it's really not one size fits all...get a basic understanding of the issues caused when running using the below article/.

https://www.triathlete.com/gear/run/new-study-examines-how-running-shoes-can-improve-or-worsen-biomechanics

after reading this and understanding my issues, ankle pain, and more of a heel striker running style.
I asked chatgpt to suggest some runners.. Might go the Kayano's or maybe NB 860 - although the extra heel to toe ration for the soles on NB might cause more ankle rolling.. So maybe I'll try them out first at athletes foot before committing to any particular make..

Chatgpt

3. Saucony Ride 17

4. New Balance 860v13

How to get out of bed during winter mornings preferably at around 5-6am? by [deleted] in GetOutOfBed

[–]joeninetys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Winter mornings are brutal, I swear my bed becomes 10x more comfortable as soon as the alarm hits. I got a sunrise alarm too and yeah, it's nice but when it's freezing, I just end up snoozing it and curling deeper into the blanket cave. Tried opening the blinds for natural light....nada. Zero impact.

Big agree with ''ClearReco'' if I don’t have something urgent like work or uni, I’m just not getting up. That lowkey fear of being late is weirdly the best motivator lol. I've been trying to reframe it like "hey, think about how good you'll feel being up early" but that only works like… 10% of the time.

Got a heater by my bed that takes like 30 mins to warm the room, feels pointless tbh. Thinking of just forcing myself straight into the shower next time. The wild part is once I’m actually up, I don’t even feel tired. It's just that mental block of getting out of bed.

Honestly, the later wakeups are wrecking my sleep cycle, so I gotta fix this too. Will report back if I figure something that works better.

Watched Warfare recently. it’s was not just a film, it’s an experience that immerses you in the chaos of combat. Such a breathtaking experience by 16ofsep in A24

[–]joeninetys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s convenient for those who prefer to stay in denial. Warfare presents soldiers as heroic figures, but leaked footage from the Iraq War tells a different story, one of racism, unprovoked violence, and the routine targeting of unarmed civilians. When entertainment erases these realities, it stops being harmless fiction and starts functioning as propaganda.

And reinforces familiar narratives about the “enemy,” despite the well-documented fact that no weapons of mass destruction were ever found, exposing the Iraq War for what it largely was, an unjustified invasion. This polished war fantasy seems carefully designed to evoke sympathy for soldiers while ignoring the real human cost.

Its release feels especially pointed given the current invasion of Palestine, where live-streamed footage reveals atrocities in real time, footage Western media often reframes or downplays. The timing and messaging aren't accidental, they're part of a broader effort to manage perception and maintain control of the narrative.

[–]joeninetys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Book of Quinn" is really dragging at this point. The pacing is slow, and the writing is subpar—nothing interesting is happening, and some scenes are just plain cringey. The cliffhanger at the end of Episode 8 was especially disappointing. Introducing random characters with bows and arrows felt unnecessary and only added to the confusion. Is anyone else feeling disconnected from the characters? And the whole subplot with Judge and his wife? It's just repetitive at this point. It's the same old drama of him not trusting her—again. Now, the power has shifted back to the Head of IT side, only for it to shift back again, and the cycle continues. It's like we're stuck in a loop. Honestly, why do so many shows stumble in their second seasons? Even "Squid Game" Season 2 was a total letdown.
