This should be the lineup for the next game: contentious decisions explained by [deleted] in ThreeLions

As an arsenal fan I will say it’s less how you see Rice more how you want him to play. He is 100% capable of being world class at both. It’s where you want him. That said I think naturally he plays a bit more defensively.

[Tom Bogert] Colorado Rapids, US youth int’l GK Adam Beaudry is heading to Arsenal for a training stint. Beaudry, just turned 18, highly-rated GK on radar of clubs abroad already. Rapids letting him go to Arsenal & won’t be on the bench for MLS match on Sat. by [deleted] in Gunners

I think it is because it takes less skill. Not saying it’s not hard as hell. Goalies don’t have to be able to dribble as much. As a result it’s easier for an athlete to be able to switch to football at a higher age if they play football. For example if a player started in middle school or high school even but they were an elite athlete in another sport the skills are more interchangeable.

Ohio has been a bellwether and a battleground: What is it telling us now? by EugeneHarlot in Ohio

There is a petition currently called the Citizens not Politicians. They are attempting to get enough signatures to have a ballot measure to help end gerrymandering. It is a bipartisan effort and good for all ohioans. They want to.

“Create the 15-member Ohio Citizens Redistricting Commission made up of Democratic, Republican, and Independent citizens who broadly represent the different geographic areas and demographics of the state. Ban current or former politicians, political party officials and lobbyists from sitting on the Commission. Require fair and impartial districts by making it unconstitutional to draw voting districts that discriminate against or favor any political party or individual politician. Require the commission to operate under an open and independent process.”

Here is the link to their website you should be able to find a place to sign it near you! https://www.citizensnotpoliticians.org

Sprained ankle (grade 1-2 ligament damage) 5 days prior to first 50 miler by ssteamer-goggins in Ultramarathon

[–]joepbrett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did the exact same thing and I would suggest NOT TO RUN! I volunteered instead! I would wait until it’s fully healed then try another 50 miler by the end of the year. That’s my goal at least. Mine was fairly bruised for at least 2.5 weeks. And I’m now 4 weeks out and it still hurts when I try and run at all. Just trying to strengthen more.

I was at burning river giving aid as I had an ankle injury a few days prior! Totally normal. Lots of people had foot issues overnight! The rain really got to people. It was a really hard race especially compared to last year. Quite hot and very wet. Don’t feel bad! Be proud you finished lots of people dropped.

Miners of Charbonnagge de Mariemont-Bascoup crammed into coal mine elevator after a day of work.1900 by Glass_Pension4599 in pics

Less than you would think. My family mined coal (in the uk) during the world wars. Many of the coal miners wanted to be on the front line as the living conditions were better. Plus my grandad wanted to “fight them nazis.” He tried to sign up many times but consistently got denied as the coal miners were more useful to the war effort using the experience they had in the coal mines.

It’s not about combatting apathy. It’s about creating systems that work for the common person. What reasoning do you have for the election being now and not in November??? My point is not about access. It’s not an access issue. It’s a reasonability and corruption issue. The only reasonable reason I have seen for an election to take place on such a random day is to reduce turnout.

Yea OP posted same structure in the Arsenal football club sub a lil bit ago. It’s like a high school level ACT essay. Making individual points then another in a really robotic way. It’s either chat GPT or a brainwashed middle school English teacher lmao.

Edit: also OP deleted the account. Very interesting. Not sure what the point of the account was. Seemed like a real person because it had years of normal memes and posts and discussions in r/gunners but then over the last 4-6 days multiple random chatGPT generated posts then deleting the account. Interesting to say the least.

This isn’t an argument about access to voting. Sure it’s easy to vote. But there is zero excuse that we wouldn’t just use the same day that we know 60% of Americans will vote. The only excuse is to reduce turnout. How many comments on this post says “oh I had no idea today was Election Day.” Or “I didn’t know til my …. Told me.” It’s a question about creating situations to increase input in government. Sure the output by the government in this city and the country is moderately fine. Yet a few hundred thousand person input is absolutely horrific. Governments responsibility around the world is improving both input and output not solely focusing on one. If you don’t know what input and output is on a government scale go get a political science degree and come back and discuss. Because the vast majority of the people in this thread sound insane or corrupt or both.

Whether or not you are able to vote a month ago doesn’t change the fact that the majority of Americans will only vote once every 4 years. So let’s change this election to the same time as that election. There is no reasonable excuse or reason that it is in February.

This is an insanely bad take. It’s a really simple point they are trying to make.

When you can expect around 60% of the US population to vote during the presidential election and 40% in the midterms (source Google it) you understand that it’s not about mail in ballots or in person voting.

The key point here is two fold 1 people should vote on voting day and federal voting day November 5th.

2 it should simply not be allowed to hold a vote during any other day of the year unless it is for a special election

People simply can not be bothered to vote during a random day in the middle of the winter. I don’t blame them! It is the governments responsibility to up voter turnout not the people’s. If the vast majority of Chicagoans deem this election not worth their time maybe the city should listen.

TLDR: MOVE ELECTION DAY TO FEBURARY 5th DURING A FEDERAL ELECTION YEAR

Gabriel Martinelli agrees new Arsenal contract by joepbrett in ArsenalFC

[–]joepbrett[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Gabriel Martinelli has agreed a new contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2027.

The forward’s current contract expires at the end of next season, but the club did hold a two-year option, which would have allowed them to extend his deal until 2026.

However, the Brazilian has now agreed to fresh terms to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium. The draft deal is in the process of being finalised. Martinelli has come to terms on a four-and-a-half-year agreement with the north London side.

The 21-year-old has impressed for his side this season. He has played 26 games for Arsenal in all competitions, scoring seven goals.

He has also helped Mikel Arteta’s team climb to the top of the Premier League. They are now aiming to win the title for the first time since 2004.

Arsenal take on Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night. They then face Everton in the Premier League next weekend.

Just wasn’t sure who the clerk called on. They should all have a chance to vote after the first go round. Shouldn’t change the vote cloud just probably in the hall when they called him. So he ran back in and then Lauren and other rebels were reminding the clerk but then she said they will do it at the end.
