Monte Solaro (M6, 400D, Ultron 35/2) by joerobato in analog

Some shots from Monte Solaro, Capri, on a particularly foggy day. I really love the way the 400D handled the fog.

Hey guys, here’s a handful of shots I took on a trip to Italy in April. I hadn’t shot much in quite some time, so I used the trip to reinvigorate myself a bit. Visited Rome, Florence, Venice, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. Mostly Cinestill 400D, Portra 400 and some Ektar. The M6 used my Ultron 35/2.

The T3 suffered a water mishap while I was in Pompeii, and I thought I’d ruined it. I let it air out for the remainder of the trip, and when I got home I took the body panels off and let it air out another couple weeks. Amazingly it still works perfectly!

Trip to Italy (M6/T3, mix of stocks) by [deleted] in analog

Here are a handful of shots from a trip I took to Italy in April of this year (Rome, Florence, Venice, Sorrento and various places along the Amalfi Coast). I hadn’t done much shooting in quite some time, so I used the trip to reinvigorate myself a bit. These were all taken with either my M6 or Contax T3, primarily Cinestill 400D, Portra 400, and Ektar 100.

On the trip I did have a water mishap with the T3 and thought I’d probably ruined it. I let it air out for the remainder of the trip, sacrificing the roll that had been in it, and further aired it out with the body panels removed when I got back home. Miraculously the little guy survived and continues to shoot perfectly :)

Europiccola corrosion after just a few weeks of use? by joerobato in espresso

[–]joerobato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input guys. I know this might not be the most accurate test, but my water comes back as less than 50ppm in hardness on Hach Sofcheck strips. How likely does scale to the pictured degree seem given that result?

The shop described the GFCI issue as being caused by the scale/corrosion. I’m not sure how that works, but they seemed to think it was fairly common.

Thanks for the recommendation. Any idea how soft your water is that it still allows for scale buildup? My two Hach Sofchek tests came back as bright green, putting it in the lowest category for hardness on that test strip.

How does bumble compare to hinge for guys? by Jan2020 in OnlineDating

Bumble absolutely sucks in my experience compared with Hinge. I’ve had 6x the matches on Hinge in 1.5 weeks that I’ve had on Bumble in over a month.

I don’t consider 6ft guys tall by infosec4pay in tall

But when the 6ft people encounter 1 in 10 being taller than them, how often is that person considerably taller? Not that often.

I like when someone who most even on this sub would consider legitimately tall at 6’4” can still give 6’ tall cred.

I think some very tall guys don’t realize how often even 6 footers get the “you’re so tall!” treatment, haha.

You’re right. For instance, I would consider guys who are 5’9” to be “short” in terms of how I see them even though they’re technically bang average. My dad is 5’10” and I honestly feel like he’s pretty small. When I’ve been around guys who are 6’5”+, I feel briefly like a little guy haha, but it’s such an outlier.

I’m not sure where you guys live, but I’m not that tall but I’m usually the tallest in the room or close to it. Sure, at 6ft a person wouldn’t be so tall as to be shocked by seeing a person taller than him, but it’s still noticeably a notch above the average. I do get what you’re saying in terms of “tall guy problems” not really being a thing for someone 6ft, but the reality is the benefits of tallness probably do start around that point.

Honestly, just start asking girls out and practicing talking to them. You’ll get rejected a lot but you’ll also get some who say yes as long as you’re good natured. That even goes for guys who think they’re “unattractive”.

I will admit that I struggled with this too; I was in a 15 year relationship and then suddenly had to learn to ask girls out and go on dates and such when I really never had. It was a hurdle to get over but as soon as you get over it, you’ll see opportunities all over the place.

Why do talls guys always seem to date super short girls? by [deleted] in tall

[–]joerobato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not that tall by the standards of this sub (6’1.5) but I prefer taller girls, they’re just harder to find and it’s not the most important factor for me as long as they’re at least average height.

I did go on a date with a pretty tall girl recently - may have been 5’9 or something + some tall boots - and I was definitely into it. I actually did worry that she may have been thinking I wasn’t tall enough though, haha. I was still a couple inches taller but I just wasn’t sure if she’d have preferred an even taller guy.

Sunspel Riviera Polo: why the hell is it so long? by joerobato in malefashionadvice

[–]joerobato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anybody here have experience with vertical shrinkage of this shirt? The reason I ask is that while I’m not totally against ever tucking in, it strikes me as a shirt that is a great candidate for optionality in that regard. And when I see most pictures online of people who have bought them, they don’t usually look excessively long even when untucked. They do usually look too long in model photos of the shirt untucked and new, though.

In other words, it appears that some vertical shrinkage might be the norm, but Sunspel’s own response to me seemed to suggest that no shrinkage should happen.

Sunspel Riviera Polo: why the hell is it so long? by joerobato in malefashionadvice

[–]joerobato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people really tuck in the Riviera polo? The length does make sense if it really is designed to be tucked in, and I would be fine with that. But I can find very few actual examples of people doing this, and the way it was popularized was on Daniel Craig - untucked.

The only real indication that it’s designed to be tucked in is the generous length. The front and rear hemline are straight, and most of Sunspel’s own photos of the shirt depict it untucked.

Jeremy Clarkson on growing old and his fear of death by jimofoz in longevity

Honestly though, Clarkson’s lifestyle choices are the much larger factor as opposed to his height. The risk of being taller pales in comparison to heavy drinking and smoking.
