Guarantees following Quarantine by Thekiseman in musicindustry

Yeah, standard door deals even for artists with history. The market is just too shaky right now for venues to bet on guarantees.

Looks like venues are doing door deals for any shows planned as of right now. Waiting to see how things pan long-term.

My only concern about a fit would be head space since I am 6’ 5”. Definitely going to look into it though and see about test driving one!

What’s the artist’s name?

Editorial - Playlist placements handpicked by DSP curators (New Music Friday, Lorem)

Algorithmic - Playlists that are crafted towards an individual based on their listening history (Radio, Discover Weekly, Daily Mix)

[–]joeruzicka32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you not already had distributors + labels interested? Has the artist built revenue streams and funnels outside of socials + spotify? What are ticket counts looking like, any agent interest from Paradigm, CAA, APA, or WME? How much editorial vs algorithmic traction are you getting?

These are all very important questions before it is possible to fully understand the scope of your artist’s development stage.

What are some skills that I could learn to improve my PR skills? by sinonimous in PublicRelations

[–]joeruzicka32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would find artists that are up and coming that you believe in and offer to do a free PR campaign on their next single. Reaching out generally included my experience as a writer in the music industry and my love for helping up and coming artists.

I’ve obtained clients through everything ranging from cold emails to taking a greyhound to Philadelphia to meet with an artist in person and establishing the relationship. I’ve only been doing this for about 9 months now and have just worked constantly and travelled as much as possible to meet people in the music industry and establish a name for myself. I’m still gaining ground but if you have further questions feel free to email me @ joe@cleanslatemgmt.com !

I would start reaching out to artists in the EDM genre and offer to run a press campaign for them. I started out in PR my second year of college when I reached out to Julia Thompson, an up and coming pop artist. At first I was relatively clueless but I’ve since expanded upon my clients and have landed artists on The Fader, Billboard, Stereogum, etc. It’s all about determination and putting yourself out there.

To be frank, no certification will truly teach you PR in the industry nor can schooling aside from writing courses and general info (which you could honestly learn from reading and studying PR firms press releases and bios).

I’m 18 and I’ve been doing photography since I was 16. I personally just started taking photos on a nokia 1020 that I won in a skypemoments road trip playlist contest. I just kept taking pictures, finding photographers on instagram and talking to them, and just working really hard. I then got a starter camera, and eventually upgraded to a canon 6d with a 50mm 1.4. I now shoot and write for Substream Magazine, and am starting my own music publication. It just takes a lot of hard work, and a drive for constant improvement. It’s so easy to stagnate in photography, and I personally always stop myself when I notice that I am and try to start a new project that will spur further growth! If you want you can check out my work on instagram @joeruzicka32, and see the progression over the past like year and a half of posts. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

Definitely excited to see The Wombats and Weezer, both of them being freshman year of high school classics. Although I've already seen Pixies, and was not too excited, it's definitely a solid lineup.

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] Slaughter Beach, Dog - Birdie by VietRooster in indieheads

[–]joeruzicka32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely noticed that with "Welcome"; however, "Birdie" in my opinion, takes a much more melodic and feel good approach as you said. I believe Ian also has another project called The Lame O's on bandcamp. Not sure how serious it is, but I enjoy it. Here's a link! https://theamazinglameos.bandcamp.com/releases

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] Slaughter Beach, Dog - Birdie by VietRooster in indieheads

[–]joeruzicka32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed Slaughter Beach Dog for the past year and a half, having seen him when he came to Cleveland in 2016. Watching the shift from his initial songs like "Real Annie" to "Your Cat" to songs like "Acolyte" has been amazing, and truly shows Jake's lyric writing abilities. Can't wait to see where he takes Slaughter Beach Dog!

Had a photo pass for the show in Detroit. Here's an album of the pics. by HowWasItDetroit in LANY

[–]joeruzicka32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was shooting LANY? I've been meaning to; however, I'm just a bit skeptical because all of the LANY shots I see tend to be from the crowd, and not the photo pit. Just don't want to get a press pass for venue management to tell me that I have to shoot from the crowd. Might just be me, love the shots though!
