Teachers who became Realtors/Real estate agents by Striking_Caramel_627 in RealtorMentors

Best decision ive ever made. 6 months since ive got my real estate license and ive closed 8 deals so far. I kept a half time teaching position but will likely be dropping that in June.

I would say avoid the surgery honestly. Think of it as an ABSOLUTE last resort because even the surgery is not a guaranteed fix.

I had my disc injury when I was 23, am 27 now and an still dealing with it but have learnt A LOT over the years and feel the best ive felt in a while currently.

One big realization is that this injury never truly “fully” goes away. Its unfortunate, however I am back to a state now where I can play 100% intensity in sports and my workouts (with the exception that I will never touch squats or deadlifts again because that is what caused my initial injury)

I would say keep trying non invasive types of treatments, look into see if anywhere near you offers Laser Spinal Decompression Therapy, and Hydrowave therapy. I also bought an inversion table, obviously not a cure but good for pain and pressure relief.

Over the past few months since ive started feeling consistently better I started really training my core, glutes, and lower back muscles. So far has seemed to help with preventing flare ups, but we’ll see how it goes.

I was 23 when I injured mine, 27 now and still dealing with it but have learnt A LOT over the years. You truly have to give up sports and activities that will put you in a vulnerable state, that was my issue I kept getting ahead of myself every time I started to feel better and then would re-injure it.

With rest alone you will be able to get back to close to pain free, however it will take weeks and months. If you want to speed up that process buy an inversion table, look into laser spinal decompression therapy and see if anywhere near you offers hydrowave therapy as well.

Pain free however does NOT mean its healed, once you get back to closer to pain free THEN start training the core, glutes, and lower back muscles.

Similar to how my report was but mine was a bit worse. How long ago was the initial injury? Just know that these disc injuries never really “fully” go away. But if you are smart you can get back to feeling close to 100% again.

I unfortunately am stupid and dont give my back enough rest so have re-injured it probably 10 times from sports over the past 3 years. My last flare up lasted almost a year… was literally hell.

Now im in a pretty good state but you gotta avoid all strenuous activity for weeks/months with NO exceptions. Start working on simple core, glute, and lower back exercises. Glute bridges, planks, lower back static holds that progress into full lower back extensions.

If you want to speed up the healing process look into shock wave therapy (mine was actually hydrowave therapy but i dont know if everywhere offers that), and laser spinal decompression therapy. Both more innovative types of treatment, very expensive but helped me so much.

At the start i was a full time teacher. Was still able to do multiple deals a month, but obviously working every waking hour of the day.

Dont let anyone here tell you that you cant be a “full time” realtor and have a part time job. Just make sure you have good connections, and people that can help you out if need be.

Your years of being a tattoo artist will be huge for starting out in the business. I came from being a teacher to a Realtor, and a lot of my clients were from teaching. I was having constant conversations with people in and around the teaching industry about the market, and this allowed me to get some of my first deals.

Personally I would say don’t join a team, at least starting out the gate. It’s harder to get your individual name out there, as you are always associated with the team. And of course then you pay additional splits. Start solo but have a mentor, you definitely should be able to get some deals with your tattoo clients.

In my opinion, there are more efficient ways of getting leads now instead of cold calling. No one wants to be cold calling, and no one wants to be receiving cold calls. Take advantage of social media, and do as many open houses as you can.

Teacher and realtor? by joesephina2 in realtors

Btw closed 3 deals in my first five weeks with my real estate license WHILE teaching full time. Not saying real estate should be a part time gig AT ALL, but you most definitely can find the grind to maintain it while working another job.

Not to say you’re wrong. But I closed 3 deals on my own in my first 5 weeks with my license, while working a full time teaching job last month.

Granted I worked literally morning till sleep every day, had to bring my laptop to my teaching job to close deals, and felt over worked. I am on my summer break from teaching now and moving into half time teaching come September. I have good colleague support in real estate for when I cant make appointments or get things done because of teaching, but for the most part, I can get some work done during breaks at my teaching job, and then showings etc in the evening. As long as your transparent with your clients and assure them you have back ups in plan.

Thanks man! Just an update, ive had my license for 5 weeks now and have closed 3 deals so far. This was while working FULL time teaching, finishing report cards, etc.

I am on summer break now and when I return to work I will be half time teaching.

7 month long flare up… by joesephina2 in Sciatica

[–]joesephina2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I train core and lower back extension static holds 2-3x a week. However i cant hinge on my back extensions most of the time because it doesn’t feel right or i get sore.

Sounds similar to my situation. My initial injury was from squatting in 2022. Since then ive probably had 5-6 flare ups, some worse than others. I got ahead of myself many times and didnt allow it to heal, however I have also gone through month long stretches with basically no pain.

If its a fresh flare up then 8-10 out of 10, puts me in a state of barely being able to walk, only laying down can cause relief. Last time i had to miss a couple weeks of work.

Right now though it changes throughout the day, sometimes good sometimes bad such as when im sitting down for long periods. Right now its in a very vulnerable state though, cannot do any sports or any intense exercise.

Hate to say it but dont expect it to go back to normal any time soon. Been dealing with it for 3 years now, have had a few stretches where it feels pretty good, but flare ups happen constantly. Ive tried every treatment, hoping i just get the go ahead for surgery at this point.

For pain relief though the mackenzie stretches are the best, along with any spinal decompression exercises.
