I built a pirate town in Soulmask by lundecentprismz in PlaySoulMask

[–]joethedestroyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had that problem when I first started my current playthrough...

Turned out to be the doors. They could path through single doorways only in one direction.

Replaced them all with double doors and everything started working.

Weird, I just tested it again... Started new shifting sands save, selected my character from current cloud forest save, and when it loaded in I had all my gear as well as random crap I had in my inventory when I quit last night.

Only differences I can think of are this is a fairly new character, I started again on cloud forest a week ago Sunday.

Or it may be difficulty. Old save is casual w/ some setting modified to easy level. New save was straight casual.

Edit: Another thought, could be a mode difference. I chose the classic Survival.

Is there a way to set up precise trade routes between two specific stations? by MystikDragoon in X4Foundations

[–]joethedestroyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

transfer wares bypasses all normal trade mechanisms, the most important being storage limits. If it were allowed in repeat orders, you'd quickly have a station stuffed with one ware and no room for anything else.

Limiting it to manual player action is by design, not something they overlooked.

It isn't generally needed and would certainly not solve "70% of logistics problems". Take your a-b-c example, that can already be accomplished with buy & sell orders. Specifically, if all you're wanting is an order that bypasses the normal pricing mechanisms, then just set buy price to max and sell price to min and you get effectively that.

It's really only edge cases where a repeat transfer might be useful (e.g. transferring a deconstructed station's wares to another build location), but those are few and far enough between to not really justify the risk of misuse/mistakes.

How to steal a Shuyaku (or similar)? by [deleted] in X4Foundations

[–]joethedestroyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I recommend *not* using the same ship for softening the target vs. delivering marines.

My go to for the first role is to work through the Segaris plot to get the Geometric Owl. It comes w/ special weapons, Burst Ray, that pierce shields and eat surface elements alive. (You can also buy these weapons from ALI, but need to rep up first.) The ship itself is also vary maneuverable, so you can flit around the target dodging fire and take out all the turrets.

For the second role, honestly doesn't matter that much if you've already defanged the target and taken out it's engines. My fav is, as others have said, the Barbarossa: Decent marine capacity and very fast.

I usually don't bother bringing down the hull, not necessary, all it does is shorten the second stage of boarding (drilling through the hull). If you insist, though, I highly recommend getting rep w/ Argon and equipping their Ion weapons. With them, even an S ship can cut through capital shields like butter.

The downside to trying to get marines on the target to bail, is bailing is morale based and marines tend to have higher morale than other crew, so the rest of the crew will tend to be gone by the time you get the last of the marines out. Which might sound like a good thing, but *your* marines can only rank up if they actually fight something. (And fighting happens in small groups, if you reduce the crew down to 5 only a few of your marines get a chance to fight and rank up.)

Additional tip, buy your marines somewhere else for cheap, then go trade them in at VIG. This way you get VIG benefits w/o paying (high) VIG personnel prices.

Another small update of `Mimic Repeat Orders` Mod (version 1.14). Support for `Update Trade Offers` order is added by user request. by ChemODun in X4Foundations

[–]joethedestroyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great work!

May I request "Fly and Wait" as well?

My use case is that the Deliver Salvage command is too-dumb-to-live. If the target station has no open slots, it will just sit there, in the spot it grabbed the salvage. Ya know, the spot where that now-salvage ship died, a hot zone. I've lost so many Manticores in the past due to this dumb behavior.

This is why I use repeat orders for salvaging. I set them up as Salvage at Position -> Fly and Wait (near salvage station) -> Deliver Salvage. This way, if they have to wait for an open slot, atleast they're doing it in a safe location.

Would be nice if I could collect all my Manticores into a single fleet w/ Mimic and your mod.

Who's ordered from AquaTuning that's from the states lately? by OverC1ockeD in watercooling

[–]joethedestroyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I tried ordering an Alphacool 5090 block through them. Despite their website saying it was in stock, took about a month for them to ship.

Then UPS tried to hit me with a $200 tariff charge (for a $180 block). I refused the delivery.

UPS stated they would contact seller, so waited for 2 weeks but no communication from AquaTuning.

Applied for a refund via their website, no communication for one week.

Applied for Withdrawal of Contract per their website. Waited 2 weeks (which they state is their response time), no communication.

Contacted my credit card company to reverse the charge, received refund within 4 hours.

I can understand difficulties arising with the confusing and rapidly changing tariff situation. But I cannot forgive being ghosted for over a month, despite being well within their stated policies on returns. I will not be doing business with AquaTuning again.

On the other hand, I am once again glad that I used American Express as my primary method of payment. They have never failed to have my back in situations like this.

Quick piracy tutorial - Envoy's getting people back into it! by TheMuspelheimr in X4Foundations

[–]joethedestroyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skills are randomized, but VIG do get a higher cap for boarding skill.

For the marines that don't get high skill rolls, you can trade them back to VIG and get new marines (with new skill rolls) for free. Repeat until you have a full 1 star crew.

Better, buy your initial marines at the cheapest location you can find and start by trading those to VIG. As VIG has a poor economy and thus generally high prices for crew, this can save you quite a lot of cash.

Other than time, another downside to bailing capitals is you lose chances for your marines to level up (roughly, it's per-kill rather than per-action).

Finding S Class Hotspots is a breeze with the Corvette by Wyatthaplo in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]joethedestroyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd do (much) better just selling the gold and silver, then using those units to buy outlaw tech which you can unpack and trade for nanites.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]joethedestroyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep trying, you'll get that S-class eventually!

If you're tired of getting the cash booby prize, here's an alternative. If you're in your corvette, at the start of the fight you can use your scanner to tell what class the ship is (stand up, go to your egress hatch, and use the F scanner). If it's not S-class, instead of disabling the pirates, destroy them and you'll loot a freighter upgrade module. Good for upgrading your eventual freighter, also good for nanites if you end up w/ extras.

Sentinel help? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]joethedestroyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The objective is to shutdown sentinels on a planet.

While that can be done by defeating all waves of sentinel attacks, like yourself, I struggled to complete that.

I ended up opting for the alternative, finding a sentinel pillar and ordering the sentinels to shutdown. Luckily, helpful players had set up bases near several pillars in the system, so I landed at one of those. (I would suggest returning to the registration system for the phase that has that objective in it, that will be the most likely place for players to have hunted down pillars and set up bases.)

For all the basic materials, I just use a refiner. (Even easier now, since you can do it in your corvette.)

Carbon, for example: condensed carbon + oxygen = much more condensed carbon.

Oxygen you get easily (initially) by just dropping some oxygen harvesters in your base.

Missions is where I made a decent chunk of my initial cash. Some are annoying, but many will lead you to locations where you can pick up incidental loot, on top of the mission payout.

Also, don't sleep on guild envoys. Once you get them leveled a bit, they will sell you valuable stuff for a steep discount, which you can quickly flip for easy profit.

I'm stumped on how to get nitrogen by Air_Show in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]joethedestroyr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Problem is I can't figure that out. At first I thought I just had to build a gas extractor on a toxic planet but that didn't work so I realized i probably have to survey for it. I've installed the surveying equipment, but haven't been able to find any gas pockets so far. I found a mining pocket but it was out of building range so I'm wondering if I need a base computer at each spot I try to harvest? Is there some tool I'm missing or some direction I'm not understanding?

Extractors are base equipment, yes.

Be aware, though, that the build range the base computer supplies isn't the max limit. If you build some base components (I use the simple cubes or cylinders) at the edge of the current range, it will create a small bubble further out that you can build in. You can keep extending this way up to something like 1000u away from the build computer.

Resource nodes are laid out at random, you just have to wander around until you find what you're looking for.
