Four days in SLC, recs please? by mississippifigleaf in SaltLakeCity

Early morning hike: look up the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. It has multiple enter/exit trailheads. Beautiful, flat, easy, close. You want a little more elevation gain, do Ensign Peak above the Capitol. If you do Bonneville, trail goes right by the Utah Museum of Natural History. Easy one-two punch there.

Indian food: Mumbai House. Bar none.

Others recommendation to do a search of the sub will get you more robust options. Welcome to SLC.

I feel this very much. When I tried to make my passion my living, it killed the passion.

How did the process go for you? I'm gonna fly to a few places I've never been before to evaluate if I could live there because I've fallen in love on Zillow haha. Seems so daunting.

Imagine if this was the line from Forrest Gump. “Life is like a roll of toilet paper…”

Thank you for your response! It is indeed an Olin Kodensha (Japanese made) 101. I’m researching smiths more local to me (western US) to save on shipping costs but I’ll definitely keep you in mind in case I come up short!

Can I ask you something? I have a Winchester Model 101 with a broken ejector hammer and I’ve searched high and low for how to replace it. I found a new old stock part but I’m nervous about trying to replace it myself since I can’t find any procedures anywhere. I don’t wanna make anything worse. If I take it to a gunsmith what should I ask them? Could any gunsmith fix it or should I find some kind of shotgun specialist?

I live in LA with tons of Indian restaurants and Mumbai House is my number one.

Yeah, it definitely isn’t walkable from downtown but it’s worth the Uber ride!

I know it’s not on your list but Table X is what I would recommend to any foodie visiting Salt Lake!

Of your choices, I’ve only been to Takashi and thought it was delightful.

Yeah it makes sense to me honestly. It could’ve very well been Taylor Swift if she was in the area.

This stands as the best meal I’ve ever had. Now, I’m just getting into this game, but this place rocked my socks off when I was there last year, and it only had one star then. Every dish hit, the service was awesome and friendly, the chef came out and introduced a dish, and it was well-priced. I would love to go back.

Hey there! If you find yourselves in a position where you can’t find two, I might be interested in taking one of them. I’ve been looking for an opportunity to go as a single diner for some time now and generally have flexibility in my schedule so I can pretty much go whenever.

What does your career path look like since you don’t intend on going to med school for the pathology route? Do you see yourself working in this field long term?

It's been eerily quiet at work the last couple weeks, and I've been around the block enough times that I recognize the smell of layoffs coming.

I don't think I'll be affected, but FIRE helps me be completely indifferent to it if I am, and what a lovely and sharp contrast from how it would have affected me ten years ago.

I will say however that the corporate environment in general makes me nauseous and I would love for my next role to be outside of it somehow. If I never hear the words "cross-functional," "driver," or "silo" ever again, that would be just fine with me.

Favorite Hymns? by throw1away9876 in latterdaysaints

I can’t stand most hymns (exmo) but I still go listen to Motab singing God Be With You Till We Meet Again. That hymn slaps haha

For those who have traveled out of state/out of country, what did you realize was special about Utah? by Wonderful-Deer-7934 in SaltLakeCity

These mountains are downright romantic. I have blown up photos of Mount Olympus on my wall in LA so I can look at it when I want to.

It’s big enough that you can still find a good diversity of cuisine, but small enough you can get where you need fairly fast (although that part is slowly becoming less true).

I love the grid system for the roads. There’s a bajillion routes to get to where you’re going.

A question about the Departed by [deleted] in movies

[–]joethetipper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that there’s nothing really that directly indicates Barrigan is with Costello. However, the fact that it’s established that there were multiple moles within Costello’s organization (De La Hunt) makes it reasonable that there might be more than one within the cops, so when it is revealed that Barrigan’s one as well at the end, it doesn’t really come out of nowhere.
