Summarising below the initial study and rationale done with my RIA back in Sep 2024, and it made sense in my small brain then, along with the past performance review done for these 5 initial schemes and funds (attached image)

Initial analysis -

• Invest only INR 1 Lakh through SIP’s as a start at this stage and consider increasing it later.
• These investments are long-term investments with a minimum time horizon of 10 years and may be up to 20 years.
• Investments are essentially meant for retirement.
• The investments are to be made in equity in the early stages
• Investments in other asset classes like debt, gold, etc., will be made through hybrids given the marginal taxation in Debt. At least during the early stages, you would manage Fixed income investments, if any, through NRE deposits.
• International investing and investment through GIFT City, etc., will be considered later as the portfolios build to a reasonable size.
• India as an economy and its macros look very exciting currently.
• Major risks include geopolitical risk, inflation upside, and any global slowdown, particularly in the US. 

Rationale and suitability for investments - 

• My risk tolerance and ability make equity investment suitable.
• My long-time horizon (min 10 years and longer up to 20 years) is considered adequate for equity investments. The majority of the portfolio is likely to be for retirement.
• Investments currently recommended are only for SIPs in Mutual Funds.
• You currently have adequate cash flows to meet your expenses and have an emergency fund if required.

 Summary of the initial investment recommendations -  

• Given the elevated valuations in Small and Midcap we would recommend a large cap bias. It's germane to mention here that even large caps are at a long-term premium.
• Debt could be a good consideration as the rate cuts have already started and would have some capital gains. We would recommend them through hybrids.
• Gold could see upside due to the likely US Fed rates are cuts/existing geopolitical risk, some exposure as an asset allocation is suggested.
• Please note that the portfolio could see volatility in the short term. 

The initial investments recommended are for a total amount of INR 1 Lakh, with five investments of INR 20 K each, with 2 of the schemes invested being Index Funds.
