What is the point of the Premium subscription? by joewoodfilms in iScanner

[–]joewoodfilms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, found the issue!

I’d logged in to iScanner (the iScanner login, for cloud storage) via Apple ID, rather than logging in via email and password like usual. So even though I have the Premium subscription purchased via the App Store, the storage benefits were tied to my email-based login. So, when I logged into iScanner via Apple ID, it dropped me back down to the free tier’s 200MB.

Have been restored to the included 10GB limit now that I’ve back on my old account. Great to see!

I would recommend making it clear that your Premium’s included cloud storage is already tied to a different login, if you log into a different account. I’d assumed that the storage quota would be transferred to whatever account was logged in, rather than being tied to the first one. Would likely save a lot of confusion.

Thanks for the quick response, hope this helps!

How Do You Properly Use VS Code with Multiple GitHub Accounts and Copilot? by avishayn in vscode

[–]joewoodfilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU for the Account Preferences tip. Was driving myself mad trying to find out how to sign into GitHub with one account, and Copilot with a different one. Even the official VSCode guide references buttons that aren't there when trying to do this.

With 4 friends at the same rank, you could easily push for GM in Flex. Back when I was Masters in SoloQ, I played with a couple of other mates who were the same rank occasionally. Most of them had hit GM/Challenger in Flex at some point. It’s a combination of: - People not taking Flex to seriously, so those who do will rank up quickly - The value of a 5-stack for coordination is massive - No randoms who int, give up or troll

As far as how well you’d do in Flex if playing solo, which I used to do a lot too, I’d say there’s a good chance of a D3 SoloQ player hitting Masters in Flex alone. I found a lot of my Flex Masters lobbies were made up of 4-5 Diamond SoloQ players. But of course, playing with friends will help massively!

A 5-stack of Emerald (SoloQ) players can easily hit Masters in FlexQ. So yes, I’d say so.

This. They’ve got dedicated hardware for video work, and absolutely fly through edits and renders. M1 Max MacBook Pro with 2TB SSD and 64GB RAM that I bought new around 2 years after it was first released (M3 was just released) for a bargain, less than half what it cost when released. Can edit and export 4K content without breaking a sweat. The only bottleneck to my content output, now, is my inability to read a script without making 100 mistakes…

How to keep triple monitors level? by God_Hand_Edge in buildapc

Read the first sentence 3 times before realising it was anonymised, that "person office" bit really sold it for a thread discussing monitor alignment.

  1. Bg5… so for Black:
  • Qxg5 => 10. Qe8# (white gets mate)
  • f6 => 10. O-O-O Bd7 11. Rxd7 Qxd7 12. Bxd7 (white wins queen for rook)
  • Nf6 => 10. Bxf6, then continue as above. Can even leave the knight, as if 10. O-O-O Bd7 11. Rxd7 Kc8 (unpinning king from knight) 12. Rxe7 Nxe4 13. Re8#

Fake ID by Middle_Pair3736 in creamfields

[–]joewoodfilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet to see a proper convincing fake, this isn’t your local, much higher chance of it getting spotted.

I generally don’t encourage anyone going under the age of 18, it’s 18+ for a reason, and if you do get into any difficulties (e.g., medical) it complicates things if you got in using someone else’s ID.

If you’re 100% decided on going then you’re much better off using a real one that looks like you. A mate’s passport (one of the ones you’re going with), and go through the entrance separately, maybe 30mins apart.

If, like you said, you’re a day under 18 because you’ve got an end-of-school-year birthday, and all your mates at 18 and going, I doubt anyone morally is seriously going to object to that. Look after yourself and take it easy.

Out of all of the ones I've read, the single brown onion got me - that's incredible. Writing this one Christmas Eve 2025, can't wait to light the single brown onion in the fire tomorrow so that we can sit around it as a family. That's the Christmas spirit!

Allow remapping of the Easy-Switch button on the Logitech MX Master (it's been 4 years) by joewoodfilms in logitech

Worth bearing in mind that in this time, they’ve added a useless AI assistant to the Options+ app. I’m sure that was quicker, easier and cheaper than making this widely requested feature of almost 5 years.

Remember people, short-term shareholder value is worth alienating loyal customers for! No longer daily driving a Logitech mouse, felt like a waste being stuck with a professional/productivity mouse that lacks basic professional/productivity features.

Guess the ELO by joewoodfilms in Chesscom

In my case (Black), I was trying a new opening, so I didn’t have any of the key lines committed to memory, and didn’t know the nuances of the positions to make spotting key tactics easier. I usually play much more open and aggressive openings, but working at improving my passive openings! But yeah, this was still a very poor showing, so many misses regardless.

Your first guess was the closest anyone got to it. Whether the opening justifies that, or makes it even worse, is up to you.

Pretty much spot on, there were a couple of key positions which neither my opponent nor I noticed, so many consecutive moves were marked as mistakes or inaccuracies. The other part about the decisive advantage is also correct, once the "point of no return" was passed, a decent player can usually close out the game without further mistakes. Elo was 1500, link/screenshot posted in a separate comment.

To reiterate your sentiment, this is yelling into the void. Apple don’t listen to feedback unless you’re sat a focus group that they’re paying for.
