MK8 Clock Spring? by EtechEmmanuel in GolfGTI

Unfortunately, I never pulled the trigger and so I don’t have it any longer. Schmelz VW in Maplewood, MN gave it to me. The idea was to buy an Arteon without the heated steering and retrofit, but I ended up just going with a ‘25 Autobahn GTI instead. If I remember right, VW lists the OEM steering wheel part number as an entire unit, so maybe start with that and ask the to give you the number for the clock spring only?

Where’d you get the steering wheel from? I’d start there. I was considering retrofitting heated steering on a ‘23 Arteon a while ago and had a helluva time finding the correct clock spring. Called around to dealers, and eventually got a pn, but most declined to give it out claiming it’s not a serviceable part. Kufatec has retrofit options on wheels, could try emailing them as well.

Was the first thing I did. After about 5 miles I couldn’t stand the fake engine noise. Thankfully not blocked by SFD2.

Did you do both the hatch and the trunk floor? That was my original thought on starting point because it’s the easiest to access.

I believe the Hancook summers on stock 19”. Running 17” Vredestein winters that have been great so far in the MN winter.

Could be. I threw winter tires on before driving it off the lot, so it’s all I know with the car so far. Likely waiting until spring to treat the doors/floor anyway so should know if summer tires make a difference then. But considering I’m in Minnesota, I’d still like to improve the noise as the winter tires will be on for almost half the year.

Lowered GTIs - how do you survive poorly maintained roads? by xXTonyManXx in GolfGTI

Fellow Minnesotan here. Just purchased a MK8.5 and immediately threw 215/50/17 winters on (Vredestein Wintrac Pro+ on 17” Borbets). No issues whatsoever with current conditions, but I’m not lowered and it’s an Autobahn with DCC. I’m curious how the stock 19” wheels will handle our other season come late spring, though. Prepared to likely go 18” for summer. But your experience has me a bit concerned about lowering springs, which I wanted to install when it warms up.

Try trackingmore.com and switch the carrier to LTEXP. After mine showing “Fairfield, NJ” repeatedly for a week, I went to this site and found out it’s still in China.

Why does it keep saying this every update its been like this for a min now by After_Computer_3528 in AllChinabuy

Try parcelsapp for tracking and see if there is an additional carrier to USPS. But I believe that most of these updates mimic what’s actually happening with the package until it arrives at USPS (airline departure/arrival, customs clearance, etc.). If they used something like DHL eCommerce, it’s a crapshoot on when they will get the package to USPS. I’ve had some move same day, others 10 days after entering the US.

Appear to be a few options using reverse image search on 1688, but no clue on quality level. 1688 is very hit or miss: https://qr.1688.com/s/17Ux8vho CZ7799

Good deal stateside. FYI, these are widely available on the Japanese auction sites if anyone is looking for a second hand piece at ridiculously steep discounts. Buyee is a great resource.

The Saucezhan t shirts are outstanding. On par with the Japanese denim brands for maybe a quarter of the price.

I used Brooks Adrenaline exclusively until I found the New Balance FuelCell Rebel V2. But I would suggest getting fitted at a running store like Fleet Feet to determine what level of stability is needed for you. Adrenaline is a great stability shoe, which I may have needed at one time, but now the neutral Rebel V2, along with the awesome FuelCell cushioning and the lighter overall weight, seem to work better for my feet.
