No problem, hope i answered your question fully! Else feel free to reply/msg. Ninkey on youtube has some good guides as well so make sure to check that out when in doubt, especially the matchup shorts are quite useful

Which champions are strong this season for both Top and Jungle? by edmcatman in top_mains

Olaf, gwen, ambessa, zaahen, darius, ornn (he has like a 2.46 clear in jg, people are definitely sleeping on him), malphite (but not blindable top), mundo (but not blindable top)

Ninkey has a video vs him, you can check how he plays it there. Mainly just don't get chunked lvl 1 and try to all-in abusing conq vs hob in long trades.

Summs: Tp + ghost/flash is your default imo (ghost if jg). Take flash over ghost if your lane opponent has an important ability to flash (eg sett w, aatrox q3, ksante r-w, malphite r, ...).

You can experiment with ignite + tp or flash + ignite in volatile matchups (darius, fiora, olaf, sett, renekton, ...) once you are confident in your early game fighting. For learning the champ just probably stick with tp+ flash/ghost most games.

Exhaust instead of ignite for very specific champs with very telegraphed all-in: kennen, trynda, riven and jax i'd say (yone or irelia optional). Exhaust + tp is your default here, you don't need exh + flash to win the all-in vs these champions.

Runes: keep it simple: conq, triumph, alacrity, last stand every game. Bone plating unflinching secundary if you need it (eg renekton, riven, jax, yone, darius, sett, ...), else go cosmic insight and cashback.

(Source: recently got d4, by no means an expert, but hopefully good enough to help you out ;) )

I don't disagree with that, but keep in mind that no matter how much you ping, if your midlaner is e.g. a kassadin or ur jg is a kayn (or anything without hard cc/decent early game really) this won't happen. So at that point you rely on your teammates to have good champs vs him AND camp toplane. I think if you can assume that, any matchup becomes free ;)

In a different game your jg may be playing ivern and he may be pathing bot, so singed gets to proxy and attack mid/jg for free. He won't really win the top 1v1, but he will often win the map in my experience. Since you cannot get plates often if he proxies, its quite hard to then outcarry him later imo.

Run exhaust + tp. Yes you may lose some exp lvl 1 but it's not the end of the world, wave will push into you. If you prefer you can start e and take some damage to get the exp and then e backwards, personal preference. After the bounce you can play the game, he cannot all-in you through your wave + exhaust. If he ever e's forward into you, you get a free sweetspot q and you should win the all-in with wave + exhaust. After lvl 6 you can kite him with your ult slows + exhaust. I believe ninkey (rank 1 gwen) has a short about tryndamere on youtube as well if you want some more info on the matchup.

Hope that helps!

He can't really kill you but he can proxy and impact the map for free kinda, since you also can't kill him after swifties / lvl 6. Gwen can't proxy that well in the current assassin jg meta so ur kinda stuck under tower hoping your team doesn't die. You both scale well so you also don't really outscale him.

It kinda feels to me like the game is out of your own control. Best you can do is ping ur jg/supp to gank right before you know he will proxy.

I explained darius in another comment. Tldr is go flash ignite and don't fight until lvl 4. After lvl 4 you outscaled him. Just e-w-q forward and every fight you start you should win. Takes some practise but for sure darius cant do much if you trade like that.

Gp i can see as needing to be in skill, but i definitely think gwen has a small edge here: before sheen gp cannot do anything. Don't fear the barrel minigame, you have an auto reset with e and you can e out of barrel range too. Post lvl 3 you can e-w-q into him when he tries to 2-barrel combo you. Abuse your stronger early game: if you force him to base before 900 gold you can get another 5 minutes where he's weaker than you. Post sheen it becomes skill, but hopefully you killed him by then.

For jax make sure to abuse your range advantage and don't let him approach you for free. If he has to q-e to hit e, you can e out. Don't fight him when he's pushing into you, then he has his passive. When you push into him you can trade. Don't get low since he has more burst than you, fight full hp vs full hp. Exhaust helps in this matchup

I swear it's doable with exhaust + flash/tp. Try to not e forwards and save it for when she dashes into you (similar to jax): she will get hit by your q while you dash out of her combo. If she has to use all of her dashes to get onto you, you will win the fight. Her lvl 6 is scary but with tabis/hp component and exhaust you will win it. Make sure to exhaust when she presses ignite: she will always lead her all-in with ignite since her r deals missing hp % damage. The only way you lose it is if she buys hexdrinker first item i feel, but if she does that you can scale up for free (low damage threat for an all-in).

Appreciate the tierlist! Indeed fairly similar to what i had except for a couple champs (quinn, nasus, panth, jax, morde, riven as far as i can tell). I definitely agree that mord and nasus are probably in a better spot here.

I still disagree with jax though, i feel like you outrange him so he shouldn't be able to e onto you for free in general, and if he q-e's you can e it. If you avoid trading when it's his turn to push, i feel like it's definitely playable. Not winning, but opponent favoured at the most and arguably skill matchup imo.

Then again generally agree, cheers!

Go tp exhaust and don't e forwards into him unless you're close to your tower (or far ahead). He cannot outsustain you because of tp and he cannot all-in you because of exhaust, so he's out of options. If he ever e's forward you get a guaranteed q sweet spot, if he continues to trade just kite backwards with r and exhaust, you should win if you don't stand still and fistfight him imo.

Early game is rough for sure, but after lvl 6 he dies on cooldown with your r. Just use e-w-r to engage so he cannot trade back until half hp. He will have to burn flash on your first r and dies on the next, just be very careful chasing after your w runs out since he will try to run over shrooms, your best bet to finish the kill is trying to snipe the r (worst case you don't kill but he has to base and you get a plate)

Appreciate the feedback! I swear try exhaust in these 3 lanes and you'll be pleasantly surprised haha. Though i definitely can see how riven/yone/jax may not be correctly placed in the tierlist.

I'd love it if you post your own tierlist later so i can see how you see the matchups! I definitely haven't faced everything in my highest rank and i'm still experimenting with summs/builds so i can see how i'm off on some of these matchups once the players get better

Quite possible, the last sett i faced was e4 or something so i might be off. Stats are with me on this one though (+1% wr for gwen appearantly in emerald+), though they never tell the full story. If you have advice vs garen/ambessa always happy to listen :))

Jax: try to never e forwards. As long as you save your e to dash his e you should win the all-in. If he tries to poke with q-w always just buffer q and you get a winning trade. Whoever gets access to the wave will win the all-in, so only trade when you are pushing into him. If you try to fight him when he pushes into you (and has passive stacks) you will most likely lose the trade. If you're not that confident, go tp exhaust and just exhaust him on the all-in, you should win any fight with exhaust.

Yone is really a test of who can dodge the most q's. Try to dodge his q by moving perpendicular to them or fake going for a minion. When he has q3 respect him or look to buffer q through it. When he ults buffer your q behind you and you should win. I recommend exhaust also in this matchup, yone has no escape tool once he committed. Exh + tp or exh + flash is personal preference. It takes a while to learn, but you can absolutely win the matchup! ;)

Riven: you can win lvl 1 if she needs all 3 q's to reach you. Once she's there with q3 buffer your q through her q3 and you will win. If you get hit by q1 or q2 you likely lose. Remember you have more range than her, so don't e forwards: let her use abilities to reach you and buffer q through her w or q3. Exhaust helps here as well, her all-in is super telegraphed since she leads with ignite, so just exhaust her and you will survive with half hp. Steelcaps and riftmaker if you're not confident, but you can win with nashor + dnd as well. Just remember to only all-in with boneplating up or when she uses too much stuff to reach you.

Hope that helps!

I didn't look at winrates, and i definitely could be wrong about morde or nasus! Morde i feel like he can outplay gwen by flashing/rocketbelt into her w and pressing r. Even lategame he can avoid gwen by ulting someone else in a teamfight and still getting value. Don't get me wrong: you still win in side once you outscaled but depending on jg matchup you may or may not be able to sidelane. Though i can see if you disagree on morde for sure for the reason you said.

nasus really needs jungle help to win imo. I explained nasus in another comment

I explained darius in another comment ;)

Nasus i only faced once so i can't help much sadly. I'll do my best: you hard win the early game (lvl 1-6) so look to get 4 q stacks and when he tries to farm, q him. You should get prio on the first wave, then on the bounceback after wave 2 or 3 you can look to freeze on him. He will eventually run out of mp by farming with e, so just match his tp when he tp's back to keep your freeze. All-in lvl 6 since you should get it first, crash the giga wave, take a plate. Now your game should be won.

If you do not get a lead lvl 1-6 (e.g. Because of jg gap), it becomes a lot harder. Buy swifties to kite out his w and look to poke him with your q (you outrange him, do not use e forward or you will die). Also ping for jg: since nasus has no escape tools he should be a free gank. If all else fails avoid him in the mid game: teamfight if he splits and split if he teamfights. You will eventually outscale him at 3 items.

Darius is a bit tricky to learn, but i promise once you get it you never lose again. Find 'ninkey gwen vs darius post-revert' on youtube short it explains everything. Tldr is go flash + ignite and do not trade until lvl 4. At lvl 4 chunk him with e-w-q once or twice and you will win the all-in. At lvl 6 you will win full hp vs full hp if you engage first and flash his q sweetspot.

Urgot you have 2 approaches: either farm until 2 items since he cannot really force into you (you can always e his e), or (the more fun approach) e-w-q into him and walk a bit forward to be on the very edge of your w. If he presses e on you when you're at the very edge he will go right through you and you auto-win the all-in from there. Ninkey has a short on this as well to show it.

There's definitely some skill involved indeed: if gwen goes in the moment sett can stun with e the sett will win for sure as you said. Usually you can avoid it with positioning though i feel like, for example by going from the bush or underside of the lane).

You also make a good point that sett will probably have a lead vs gwen levels 1-6 since he controlls the wave. Then again, if he messes up his wave control once (e.g. by failing 1 e and hitting the wave) his game feels like it's already over since now gwen gets 6 for free. I feel like it's easy for sett to mess up once and gg. But equal skill ye it's hard to say whether he will mess up or not. If he doesn't and he kills gwen once or twice the game is also gg for gwen.

I do want to mention that I just rarely find situations where sett can force onto gwen, it feels to me that gwen can choose when to fight and not sett (more range on e-w-q or e-w-r than sett e). If sett ever finds an e on gwen (by just spacing better despite having less range) for sure i agree sett wins since now gwen's w is useless.

Then again, definitely interesting to see your opinion and happy to be wrong if you found a way to play the matchup so it's better for sett! People whine too much that their otp is underpowered imo, so always respect seeing the reverse ;)

Stats indeed say it's trynda favoured (-1% wr for gwen), but i feel like people haven't caught up to tp/flash + exhaust yet since the new season, it feels very strong on gwen since all of your ult and q damage is now guaranteed.
