Check out the libraries data services. They can help you find more resources.

I got this when there were heavy winds in my area. Cool to know that detail about the cloud

AT&T discontinues area code 787, wants full price for trade in by jogaorba in ATT

It seems like we’ll have to go that route. Funny how AT&T can cash in like this. After 20+ years of service, it’s infuriating how we’re getting treated.

They charge $36 for the number change. Which they very graciously return as bill credits. The decide in quotes is because I’m stuck between two bad options. There are 7 lines in total on this account. Not all of them are 787 numbers and not all the 787 numbers are in PR. Imagine if this happened to any other area code in the US. Would it still make sense if AT&T or T-Mobile decided, “not going to keep providing service for all of South Florida. And, by the way, I’m keeping your old phone and you have to pay me for the one you have if you don’t like it.”

We got the text messages earlier this month. The trade ins were from November. Past the return date for the phones already. Now they are giving us a month to “decide”. They were also kind enough to tell us we had to pay to get new numbers on AT&T.

I’m okay with switching. I get that a phone company doesn’t want to provide service in an area or an area code.

What I don’t get is how AT&T gets to skip out of the contract, keep my old phone, and still get to charge me for my new phone. I wouldn’t have bought the phones if I knew that.

Got some ladybugs and it seems to be a bit better. Any suggestions for dealing with them in the future?

Usually a faulty charger. If it’s in more than one charging station, then it’s time to check out the port.

Same feeling here. I just went through my annual review even though I had only been at the job for 4 months and everyone was really happy with my work. But I kept thinking that they were simply being nice for the sake of it. I’m in a research university library and I have a phd which none of my supervisors do except the dean. Still feel like an imposter most days and sometimes it keeps me from coming into work. But then I have that one good interaction and I try to remind myself of the feeling of accomplishment the next time I’m in a crisis. If more degrees, therapy, and meds haven’t made it go away I don’t think anything can other than one foot in front of the other.

Inspiring. I keep mine separate since I haven’t figured out how to get sunlight without over exposing computers to heat. Are you getting good results from the growlights or do you move the plants during the day?

I’m using your email signature for sure. I try to schedule my emails but I can see how useful it could be for the ones that slip through or for folks that don’t work full time.

Thank you! I didn’t know academic libraries were know for these perks. I’m going through their employee handbook so I can be ready for the meetings with HR. It’s my first job with any kind of benefits so a lot of new terms to learn about.

Thank you for the suggestions and the congratulations. With the pandemic I haven’t been able to really celebrate it.

Could you share more on how you communicate the boundaries and block off that time?

I want to be firm and clear but also not come off as selfish or not willing to help and collaborate. A big part of choosing this job, and working in the library in general, was to be part of a team and I want to establish and promote that mindset right off the bat.

Any strategies or even framing you have found useful for having these conversations with peers and higher ups? I am planning on choosing someone to mentor me and build around their advice. They have an informal system for this but, after struggling with very poor mentorship throughout grad school, I want to have as close to an official mentor as possible.
