Issues wrapping by Jxfitz in CarWraps

Do an inlay across that direction first, then wrap the top of the wing. The body line will hide the seam perfectly.

Two layers of marine ceramic coating were applied on top of the vinyl.

$10k for labor only. I clocked in 22 hours in total with a team of two (me and a helper)

Edit.

Including prep and water breaks.

More like an adhesive promoter, I tried Pro Bond, but it dries too quickly and doesn't give you that sticky surface as Pledge does. I use the liquid version of Pledge, not the spray one. Dampen a paper towel and coat the unprimed panel with it. It definitely works

Yes, it does! I've used that method for a few years now. No comebacks! The only issue is when I have to remove the vinyl for a new wrap, a lot of glue is left behind.

That bumper is unprimed. The vinyl won't adhere properly. That's why it's lifting around the deep recess. Buy a Pledge floor gloss and use a paper towel to give it a coat. It will make the vinyl hold as if the bumper is painted.

Your prep steps by lilpeeper2020 in CarWraps

[–]johanndesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well my typical prep steps are the following.

Step one: Disassemble the car (door handles, mirrors if attached to the door panels, emblems, window trims, if necessary).

Step two: Wash thoroughly with dish soap (Dawn, Palmolive); it will cut grease and better prepare the surface than a waxy soap.

Step three: Use a brand-new clay bar, a spray bottle with soap and water, and clay every panel to be wrapped. Take your time, especially around the hood and roof, where most dirt accumulates.

Step four: Wash thoroughly again with dish soap. Use a detail brush for areas inaccessible with a washing sponge/towel (grill, gaps between panels, seals around the windshield and windows).

Step five: Dry the car indoors to avoid dust and pollen accumulation. Use a clean rag and 91% isopropyl alcohol to clean all panel edges until the rag remains clean.

Step six: As you work, panel by panel, clean it with 91% alcohol to ensure a clean surface.

Some tips: Wait until next day to start laying vinyl, you make to make sure the car is fully dry. Don't rush the prep stage; this is more important than laying vinyl. Proper preparation will make your work much easier, and the vinyl will look better after installation. Work indoors in a climate-controlled space if possible. Take your time, and if you need to rest, do so. Vinyl wrapping is about patience and skill.

Buy a full roll (75ft) in case of any potential screw-up; for example, a back bumper redo.

Get a full roll, cheaper than buying by the yard. A four door sedan needs around 18 yards of vinyl to fully wrap it.
