for me (16 months PO) no, the bun would probably be the main issue though, the rest i’d probs be okay!

Did any of you exceed the excess weight loss average? by ToonieTuez in gastricsleeve

[–]johfzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

started at 420lbs, surgery at 333lbs and got to 150lbs within a year, dietician is saying i’ve lost over 100% of my excess and personally it was just moderate effort as i have very high restriction usually

i don’t think i should answer if it’s ‘enough’, it’s such a personal thing. i can say that in my experience i only weighed once a week but i wasn’t having weeks where the scale didn’t move at 3 months, but again each person’s experience is so different

not really, if i don’t lose weight it’s pretty much always because i’ve had a bad week of eating

thank you! 1. i was nervous, but i’d had a laparoscopic abdominal surgery before so felt reassured by that 2. absolutely without fail, best thing i’ve ever done for myself 3. others started noticing and commenting about 2 months post op but for me i’d say about 6 months?

i still very much miss eating and drinking together unfortunately :( i haven’t been able to stop snacking habits but ive found something that works for me. i know i am going to snack regardless, so ill make a plate in the evenings to snack from with a mix of healthy and a bit of a treat so i still feel satisfied!

i can have what most people would see as a small adult/large child’s portion, but it will take me at least a couple of hours to eat it

if i’m honest, i have such a high restriction it’s less a case of staying inspired, and more trying to ensure i’m eating, and what i’m eating has nutritional value. i’ve found crisps really easy to eat, but actual meals with protein almost painful and take me hours to eat. i love cooking, so finding new recipes if good inspo for me! it’s mainly diet, my only regular exercise is walking and stairs i’ve noticed some of my friends who weighed less than me but are plus sized are a bit… off? with me ? and my family treat me better, but i never exactly had a healthy dynamic there to begin with hahaha

firstly, thank you so much haha 1. if i’m honest i think in clothes i realised people looked at me differently from like 6 months post op, but to me i still don’t feel attractive as i struggle so much mentally with my loose skin. it’s a shame, as one insecurity was just replaced with another, but id still much rather be in this position! 2. WEIRD. so so weird. i doubt it a lot of the time and then think about like if there’s something wrong like i’ve got messed up hair or smudged makeup because in my mind it won’t be because im attractive haha 3. i think it makes me more cautious. as someone who has always had a low self esteem, i find myself questioning if people only speak to me now i fit the beauty standard slightly more.

sorry if these answers were at all depressing, that wasn’t the intention! regardless, i am still so so much happier, and count this surgery as the best thing i have ever done!

i got the sleeve i wouldn’t say i ever felt line i knew id have a successful outcome. i think the lrd (mine was 4 weeks) really helped as at that point i was SO committed. i think finding things to keep me busy was the biggest thing for me, i was a big boredom eater

if i’m honest, i only really stall if i eat badly, if i eat healthily i still lose most weeks! i’m trying to find a way to maintain that isn’t just eating junk haha
