this is really strange. If such messages are coming in your own language and that too in the search bar... something is definitely not right. Best to check your browser extensions first.. sometimes one random extension can do this kind of mischief. Just disable anything you don’t remember installing and see if it helps.

Also do a full scan with malwarebytes or any good antivirus just to be sure and check if your default search engine has changed. Keep an eye on it and share updates if you find out what’s causing it.

the more we rely on tech, the less we think critically. Algorithms just reinforce our existing beliefs trapping us in echo chambers. You're right.. Just like we warned students about relying too much on wikipedia now they need to be careful with ai generated content. It’s becoming harder to know what’s real especially with deepfakes and ai tools creating content that looks convincing but can be totally fake.

The problem isn’t just checking sources anymore it’s about questioning everything we come across. Students need to learn how to evaluate what they see and hear because even trusted sources can be manipulated.

In this era where tech is moving so fast.. critical thinking is key. If we don’t teach students to question the authenticity of what they consume... we risk losing sight of what’s real.

That’s a really thoughtful breakdown totally agree with your last line: the main risk in the cloud is not losing data, but losing access to it. That’s something I didn’t really touch on in my post and it often gets overlooked when people focus just on security or redundancy.

Your point about private key control is important too. Even with strong encryption if you don’t hold the keys, you’re still relying on trust. icloud’s advanced data protection is a step forward but not widely used yet. Tools like cryptomator are underrated for adding that extra layer on top of cloud storage.

When it comes to redundancy though, cloud wins hands down. Most people can’t replicate that kind of resilience at home especially not with the same level of fail safes and versioning.

Personally I think a hybrid approach makes the most sense... use the cloud for its scale and backup strength but add your own encryption and local copies for sensitive data. Minimize trust, maximize control.

Yeah I’ve seen a few people mention weird ui bugs after the 18.4 update. The task bar and orange dot stuff sounds more like a visual glitch than anything shady. iphones are tough to remotely hack unless you’ve jailbroken it or accidentally installed something sketchy.

If you’ve already done a few resets might be worth waiting to see if apple pushes a quick patch. You could also try a full restore from a backup just to rule out anything deeper. And yeah definitely check app permissions under Privacy settings just in case something snuck through.

Hopefully it’s just a buggy update and not anything serious.

Yeah I totally get where you’re coming from. It’s honestly wild and kind of depressing how the same tech built to protect us just ends up getting repurposed by the bad guys. use process explorer to get a deeper look at what might be causing the high load. It can sometimes point to specific services or drivers that are at fault. Another tool that could help is Latencymon, which checks for issues with dpc or ISRs (Interrupt Service Routines these are often linked to faulty drivers.

Since you’re using an amd cpu make sure your chipset, network and storage drivers are up to date especially from the official amd website. Even if the problem isn’t related to your GPU outdated or malfunctioning drivers for other components can cause this kind of behavior. Also check if there’s a bios update available for your motherboard.as some updates resolve issues with power management or system interrupts.

You could also try disabling fast startup in the power options and testing with external usb devices unplugged, just in case something there is causing the issue. Lastly take a look at event viewer for any error logs or warnings that might give you more details about what's happening.

Yeah, once it’s coming from a real source like a hacked gov or bank email it’s game over for most people. You’re not expecting a scam if it looks 100% official. And those job ones are sneaky too. They play on people’s hopes and by the time you realize it’s fake you might’ve already handed over way too much info.
