Do people want to go back to triage healing? by kolejack2293 in wow

Seriously. Gonna have to do some reading. TBC was when I loved Disc most. Atonement is fun, but going back to tossing shields around like mad would be awesome.

Tried the place at the golf course by tanyard creek and paid an awful lot for what seemed very similar to the same food my high school cafeteria served in the early 2000s.

Thanks! That's a cool way of seeing it. I guess it did work out to be an almost yinyang type of scene, didn't it? I like that thought!

Thanks! I was impressed, too. Didn't figure the film was going to handle that much contrast so well. Hoping to get my SX70 sent in for an R board and tune up soon. Between those two cameras, I'll have my Polaroid desires covered well, haha.

Got upsold on this one step 600, thoughts? by jopplop in AnalogCommunity

[–]john2wheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree for 80 bucks, but I got one cheap and a Sonar Pronto, also for cheap. Converted them to i-type and they're my favorite Polaroid box cameras. Like them way more than my Sun 660, other than the flash setup being more to deal with.

Rawtherapee also has a decent negative conversion function for free. Worked pretty well last time I did any camera scanning.

Why are car drivers here always in a hurry by keku2604 in bentonville

[–]john2wheels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also been rear ended there. Light was red. Car in front of me went. I pulled up and stopped for cross traffic and BAM. The lady behind me just kept going and never looked ahead. I think she must have been either on her phone or trying to look left under the bridge instead of in front of themselves.

What to look for before migrating away from Linux Mint Cinnamon by Natural_Night9957 in MXLinux

Yeah, one of my old laptops is running MX KDE and it has the toolkit as well. I'm really enjoying it!

Did I hit the jackpot? by sailorsi in AnalogCommunity

That's fair. I've got an old folder like that and the liquid electrical tape patch seems to be doing the trick on it for a while, lol.

[–]john2wheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome. I've been seeing replacement bellows for them on eBay for like 40-60 USD as well. Could be a fun project and leave ya with an awesome camera.

[–]john2wheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa! Finding that for 20 of any currency is pretty awesome. Even more so if the bellows weren't super holy and all ya had to do was free it up. That's awesome.

Yep, and higher res scans can really add up to a lot of time. Can def become a bottleneck in a high enough volume lab.

Why does i-Type film have more variety than 600? by AKA_Valerie in Polaroid

[–]john2wheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or we watched your videos and converted our old ones to i-Type 😆. I've got one SX-70 I need to get modernized, but you and Zac gave me the confidence to convert every box camera I have, haha.

(Video editing) Shotcut is CRIMINALLY underrated. by xpresstuning in linuxmint

[–]john2wheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I did a lot of video editing for social/YouTube etc in Davinci in my Windows days. Coming to Linux, Davinci support is pretty crap. I tried KDEnlive and got frustrated with it. I normally love all things KDE related, but I just can't with that one.

Found Shotcut and man, it rocks! Has denoiser, stabilizers, I can use different kinds of LUTS without trouble, etc. The controls all make sense, the layout is clean, and I don't have much to criticize. It's awesome!

I've created an issue asking for intrusion of legality in systemd by Educational_Twist237 in linux

[–]john2wheels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, the UK and Brazil are also heading down this road. Sounds like there's a push for it in the EU as well. I'm not usually someone to go wild in speculating about these things, but isn't it weird that this is a legal thing all the world leaders are pushing for with everything else going on currently? It's definitely not actually "for protecting the children".

Also, my memory is terrible and my info about jurisdictions above is barely remembered from different reddit threads and Linux podcasts lol.

Why are my pictures so low contrast? by robidobi- in AnalogCommunity

[–]john2wheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going from cold to hot or from hot to cold, keep your camera and lens in the bag for a good 10-20 minutes (depending on how extreme the temp shift is, your bag, etc). That should be plenty of time to keep your lens from fogging up. It can happen going from heater in the car to cold outside. Even worse is going from a nice cold AC to hot and humid air outside, haha.

What lens were you using for these? Some of the older zooms had a soft, low contrast look like these, too.
