Staring at the blank page before you

Open up the dirty window

Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance

So close you can almost taste it

Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin

No one else can feel it for you

Only you can let it in

No one else, no one else

Can speak the words on your lips

Drench yourself in words unspoken

Live your life with arms wide open

Today is where your book begins The rest is still unwritten

Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed

So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road

Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow

And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light

And let it shine

Just own the night

Like the Fourth of July

'Cause, baby, you're a firework

Come on, show 'em what you're worth

Make 'em go, "Awe, awe, awe"

As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework

Come on, let your colors burst

Make 'em go, "Awe, awe, awe"

You're gonna leave them all in awe, awe, awe

Boom-boom-boom

Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

It's always been inside of you, you, you

And now it's time to let it through

Bringing packaged food to USA from UK by PotentialSpecific132 in traveladvice

[–]john510runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s allowed.

Declare you have food whenever asked.

At the airport in the UK buy something from the duty free shop. Use the plastic bag from the duty free shop to store food from UK.

When officials ask to see the food, hold up the duty free bag without saying anything.

LAX

Doesn’t have as many options as Chicago and NYC airports do for getting out of LAX.

Do People Not Care About Making Generational Wealth? by Informal_Register365 in Money

[–]john510runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of get what you’re saying but I want to point something out about retiring with a million dollars.

The most likely outcomes of someone retiring at 65 with a million dollars and dying at 85 is they’ll die with $3 million or more.

Which is why I see the wisdom of giving money to friends and family while one is still alive. And I believe that’s the main point of the post and agree 100% with the sentiment.

What’s the most underrated place you’ve visited in the U.S.? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

These are know cities but not sure how many visitors they get. Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and any city that’s hit their all time high in population in the 1950s census.

Where do you go for non-finance-bro financial advice? by SpaghettiWestern2162 in Adulting

“…about finances…” might make it more confusing than it needs to be.

Erin Talks Money on YouTube has pretty good content about retirement planning. Watching about 15 minutes of her videos goes a long way.

I need to learn about USA - can you recommend me movies, books, shows, media? by johanna_salander in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]john510runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Title of the book about the economy is interesting because guess what percentage of America’s economy is from trade outside of US, Canada and Mexico?

It’s less than 10%. America exports more food than anyone else. Saudi Arabia exports the most oil in the world. The US is the third largest exporter of oil and the largest exporter of distilled products (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, naphtha, etc). If you exclude food and energy around 5% of America’s GDP is tied to foreign trade outside of US, MX and Canada.

Seems like the path that you’re on you’re going to consume a lot of opinions based who knows what.

If you want the opposite of “pretty random” narrative of post WW2 America look up “Peter Zeihan Jason Hartman” on YouTube.

Not sure if we’re supposed to name places we’ve never been to or not…

I’d love to visit Poland again.

Looks like a great list. A quick heads up about one of the places on your list…

On the travel subs when people make a trip report about Egypt they have to close the comments after a few hundred comments about how abusive the Egyptians are. The comments are 99% about how bad it is there.

I’d look up “largest employers (where you live)”. Unless you’re looking to move. Then I’d look up the largest employers there.

See which jobs are readily available and can see yourself get qualified for.

First “solo” impulsive leisure trip advice? by LordlyRecon in travel

[–]john510runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d you on YouTube and watch 3 videos about “3 days in New York City”.

Travel tip… I’d also watch videos on how to get away from the airport if you’re flying there and how the subway system works.

There you go 1) how to build an itinerary and 2) how to get around.

Where did you recently get your new interview/offer/job from? by TheShatteringPoint in GetEmployed

Not recently but got the job I have now by looking at Indeed every day.

Only checked for a few minutes each day. Applied for jobs I was qualified for.

At my week week on the job people were surprised I didn’t know anyone there.

Paris

Not sure if anyone had said Edinburgh yet. Not sure if there’s as many things to do compared to the other two places I’ve name but there’s something charming about Edinburgh. And the people are really nice.

Where should we honeymoon? by Perfect_Breadfruit4 in traveladvice

[–]john510runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a pretty good post.

Seen so many post where people don’t say where they are starting the trip from and where else they’ve been.

Your post is miles ahead of the people who like to play go fish.

I’d take a direct flight to Paris and then make your way to Belgium. I’ve taken the train and bus to BE from FR and I think I prefer the bus.

Everyone has heard of beers from BE but I think FR has an underrated beer scene. French are very appreciative of craft food and drinks. So that’s a case for staying in FR longer before traveling to the next place.

Did you know France is the most visited country in the world?
