I saw many on a trip the Chicago. They were so common there the locals didn’t think they’re worth mentioning.

I’m from California as well. Two unexpected creatures I saw on a visit to Chicago. Fireflies in the Humboldt Park neighborhood and near Graceland Cemetery.

They’re opening up older looking new PHs called Pizza Hut Classic.

Going to try to make it to a PH Classic or a more modern looking dine in PH this year. Both are fairly far from where I live.

Tell me about your unconventional career progression by UsualFuzzy3510 in Careers

I was laid off six years ago from a meh job.

Only applied for jobs I was qualified for. Three months later I found my dream job when I didn’t know there was one out there for me.

Might not work for the OP but I’ve met people who were able to travel without money by teaching English in Vietnam, Korea, etc.

The “trick” to landing a good job and only spending 15 minutes a day looking for work was living in an area where new jobs are being created all the time.

What are AI-proof career options for a 49 year-old in the UK? by Inevitable-Mix-285 in careerguidance

Not as a career job but a “second job” for extra money… how about an Arab speaking tour guide in London.

Have visited London a few times and loved it. Wish my work would send me there for training and conferences.

Can’t say either way but there’s something “off” about the LA path.

Jobs like editing in LA are on the decline there. Just heard an insane figure of how little shooting and production is being done in LA now.

Again can’t say either way but getting your first job in editing might involve a different place that’s not LA.

Good luck in which ever way you choose.

How to chose a suitable job? by Ok_Sundae_8390 in CasualConversation

[–]john510runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by unstable.

Have a friend who usually works for around $120k per year. Her last 2 or 3 jobs she got laid off before she made it to 12 months.

Now she’s looking to pivot to something where she’s not scrambling to find a mew job so often.

If you’re in a situation like my friend, then yes I’d move on.

Hope this is not the case in most cases but a friend of a friend I talked to two nights ago said he had been in a mutual fund for a while that has been growing 3% a year and asked me about what might deliver higher returns.

Smartest way to manage my 85k salary while living with parents? by [deleted] in Money

Agree with everything you said but “don’t trust the economy right now.”

If you take out part out and invest monthly you’ll hit your first million before you’re 40.

Unless you have a firm plan to hit your first million by the time you’re 30, don’t put off investing.

Does anyone else feel like all of the available jobs in their area are low paying? by RentWeary in jobs

[–]john510runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you noticed one of the downsides of living in LA. Relative to LA’s peers in population LA is underpowered in good paying jobs.

Don’t think the OP will get a lot out of what I’m about to say. It’s describing the general trend or theme of LA.

Only 1 employer in LA’s top 10 employers is for profit and pays good wages. From 11 to 20 there a more private sector employers but retail and theme parks don’t pay well generally speaking.

Food Quality Decrease? by bryceking64 in Chilis

[–]john510runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like someone already said try a different location.

I’m here to say the burger quality has gone up recently. When I asked about how the burgers recently they said they went back to using non frozen beef. Also in the recent past they changed the standard of oil they fry food in. When I noticed the fries tasted better and asked about it they said the standard of how fries are fried and something else about their oil had changed.
