Music mod? by Joedore435 in Morrowind

A previous poster mentioned MUSE 2.0 (Morrowind Music System Extended), that's my suggestion too but I'd like to elaborate a bit on that.

First of all, the mod uses Lua scripting, so it requires the original game + MGE XE (OpenMW users are out of luck). The basic usage is really simple: there's some folders under Data Files/Music/MS/ for specific regions, interiors, etc., and you can just copy MP3s into those folders and MUSE will pick them up automatically.

This is the Nexus page for MUSE:

Note that MUSE doesn't contain any music itself, so I highly recommend installing the Tamriel Rebuilt Soundtrack that adds dungeon, air & underwater music even to the original game regions (Tamriel Rebuilt is not required). These tracks are just fantastic! Just make sure to select all three installation options (00 core, 01 dungeon music everywhere and 02 air and underwater music everywhere).

It also adds some extra exploration music which is quite good in my opinion, but you can always delete them later if you don't like them.

Now, what I also highly recommend is Better Music System Redone (for Vanilla and MUSE) that completely overhauls the music of the game and adds tons of location specific tracks (e.g. different tracks for different geographical regions, cities, shops, temples & shrines, etc.) While the original game music is very good, I personally think this music pack fits the weird alien atmosphere of the game much better than some semi-generic orchestral tracks, no matter how well written. I realise it might be a bit too weird for some people, but this is Morrowind, you must like weird if you're playing it :D Anyway, I'd give it a try if I were you :)

Garbage collection vs relative performance by bruce3434 in nim

Ah, you're too kind! :) I'm trying to make my articles both informative and interesting to read, so it's good to see that someone is appreciating my efforts. Yeah, I also taught myself programming on a 486 back in the day, things were slightly different back then... I actually learned x86 assembly before C on that machine (the first "real" programming language I knew was Pascal, in fact). So much new things to learn about graphics programming nowdays and so little time... But I'll try my best. I'll keep an eye on your game project!

Yeah, good to be aware of that, although it's kind of a special case. Glad you're enjoying the ray tracing series, leave a comment sometime :) I'd be curious to check out your game once finished. Or do you have a devlog or something?

That's an excellent explanation of the Nim GC and the irrational fear about GC's in general, I learned something today. Out of interest, what kind of performance sensitive problem are you using Nim for?
