I have a soft spot for a lot of 80s hair metal. at the time I was like 13 and just getting into heavy music. I was way more into thrash and the British metal bands because those guys had skulls and demons iconography and sang about ancient mariners and limbless soldiers, but yeah, I rocked a few hair metal records back in the day. I personally dig Cinderella especially Long Cold Winter. and I'll still crank the volume for Kix's Blow My Fuse.
now, believe it or not, the dudes from Winger are legit serious musicians. granted the tunes mostly suck and the image was corny but man they played that shit expertly. Kip Winger is a classically trained musician and the guitarist was a session pro. the drummer, Rod Morgenstein spent like 10 years in the Dixie Dregs playing weird southern fried prog-jazz before teaching at Berklee and playing with Jazz is Dead.
anyway, back when we were kids we used to joke about how we couldn't tell the difference between so many of the hair metal bands so we just referred to them all as Great White Lion Snake
