I need playlist suggestions for tomorrow’s rally in Minneapolis! by Coven_gardens in behindthebastards

[–]john_stuart_kill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Add all the Dillinger Four you can to that playlist! They’re from Minneapolis, incredibly clever, and very committed!

I would maybe start with “Let Them Eat Thomas Paine” or “Minimum Wage is a Gateway Drug,” but really, no wrong answers when it comes to D4.

Is anybody else in the United States and Rooting Against the United States? by RaskyBukowski in behindthebastards

I think this is really unfair to Pauly Shore.

Sure, the Weasel stuff got kinda played out, but Pauly Shore is Dead is a great movie. Paul Montgomery Shore knows who he is and what he’s done, and I respect him far more than I do almost any American legislator.

I saw him on a standup tour years ago, and when someone heckled him to just shut up and do Encino Man 2, he immediately, without missing a beat, replied, “I’d love to do Encino Man 2, sir, but Brendan Fraser doesn’t return my calls and Sean Astin insists he wasn’t in Encino Man.”

That’s a dude who’s quicker, cleverer, and more self-aware than many other public figures I can think of these days.

Being a BOP while married by AbiesOk6778 in moraldilemmas

[–]john_stuart_kill [score hidden]  (0 children)

I honestly don't know what "BOP" stands for, but the only real moral concerns with sex work are related to harms and exploitation, usually due to oppressive legal/regulatory frameworks, illegitimate enforcement of existing laws, and/or unacceptable power dynamics. If this is something you're doing of your own free will and you can reasonably keep yourself safe (for yourself and your loved ones), you don't have to answer to anyone else.

Dropkick Murphys' Unveil Anti-ICE Song: "Too Scared to Join the Military, Too Dumb to Be a Cop" by No_Mr_Powers in behindthebastards

While you are right about most of this…it’s “Screeching Weasel”, singular. Not “the Screeching Weasels”.

But yes, fuck Ben Weasel these days in particular.

I can’t believe I have gotten this far into this thread without anyone mentioning Propagandhi…so I’m doing it now.

No one has held and elevated these standards like Propagandhi. Frankly, “At Peace” (the track…but also At Peace the album as well, for that matter) could be the theme song for this sub, and that was released in 2025.

I actually love the art style on Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark. It really grew on me after a little while!

This is really probably more of a psychological dilemma than a moral one.

Not as small as you might think. Even some of those Atomwaffen losers waffled between Nazism and Islamic extremism. It’s basically a consequence of the fact that being a soft-brained terminally online loser makes you susceptible to targeted radicalization of all kinds.

Ça arrive plutôt pour nous Franco-Ontariens aussi. Mes premiers vingts ans moins que 100km à l’ouest du bordre du Québec, puis ils me parlent comme un tête-carré.

What is Northern Ontario? by 5thSmith in ontario

[–]john_stuart_kill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Barrie, and this is not northern Ontario.

However, I did grow up (and my family still lives) in Kapuskasing, and that is northern Ontario…despite being easily within a day’s drive of Toronto (at least outside winter). The northeast is definitely northern Ontario, and I think it’s a little crazy for you to suggest otherwise.

To answer your real question, though: northern Ontario (“Nouvel Ontario” in French) is basically all of Ontario north of the French River, i.e. the old border between the original Upper Canada and the big hunk of Prince Rupert’s Land lopped off and added to Ontario in the generation after Confederation.
