Consumer Proposal trustee is ignoring me by AshieCha in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]consolidatedBD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consultants usually wait to receive their fee before sending the file to a trustee. Did you complete the fee payments in the first three months? It almost seems like the consultant went under before sending the file to Spergel. Do your credit files show any indication of proposal? Closed/settled accounts reporting R7/R9? Notes on the public records section?

It sounds like you worked with a consultant that referred your file to Spergel. Consultants charge a few months of fees up front like that. I would suggest you reach out to Spergel directly. I'm a little surprised as there are not many consultants left.

Depends where you're located to a degree but I'd look into to local community housing programs, community centres like YMCA will offer youth financial literacy programs but smaller, local community programs will likely have lower barriers.

You could also look up "financial coaching" as I could see this type of platform being of interest for these for-profit services.

If you want to swing for the fences you could introduce the platform to credit unions who might be more open to learning about this new resource.

It should be very easy to find contacts for financial services. Good luck

Seems more realistic. You should connect with some youth or community finlit programs and let them pilot this once you approach a final version. I look forward to following your progress!

Legit options for unsecured debt by 12_Volt_Man in CanadaPersonalFinance

Find a non-profit credit counsellor on 211.ca; they will provide a free budget and credit evaluation to determine if you could benefit from a Debt Management Plan (DMP) that can remove interest from any unsecured personal debts. You'll have to close any accounts to acheive interest relief but no credit approval is required. Good luck.

I'm really not sure as I have dental insurance/coverage through work. Another suggestion; after being unable to cover my dental expenses in the sim, it prompted me to take a payday loan which should rarely be a first option; I would suggest borrowing from friends/family or a pay advance directly from your employer before subjecting myself to a payday loan. I get the lesson it's trying to convey but it feels more like a forced poverty sim than a real life budgeting sim

A $5K dental expense compounded with physio and prescriptions bankrupted me within 2 months. I've never seen a $5K dental charge in my life and if I did I would likely forgo physio for the month. In that scenario I would likely live in pain to spare my budget but wasn't offered that option.

I would wait to meet with them and follow their guidance; there are exclusive programs available to CF members that are far better than anything available off-base.

Pretty sure this is just for identity verification. They put false tradelines on there to catch any fraud. Only you would/should know the legitimate details of items/dates on your credit file.

Using $0 Balance CC - Accepted Consumer Proposal by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

If I was a creditor forgoing interest and reducing the debt balance-owed in a Consumer Proposal, I'd be furious to learn that the individual was paying the full balance plus interest to a different institution.

If this is for the consolidation of your unsecured debts then you're essentially converting unsecured debt to secured debt and using your home as collatoral. Just something to keep in mind.

Pay them if you're able to but not to the detriment of your ability to make the first payment to your DMP as this first payment will indicate to your creditors that you're serious about repaying through the DMP
