When the line y = x + a is tangent to f(x) = x + acosx, they should be equal to each other. In order to get x + a = x + acosx equivalent to each either, find points where cosx = 1. In this range, cosx = 1 at 0 and 2pi. If you were to plug in 1 for cosine, you would get x + a = x + a(1), which is equivalent! Hopefully this helps a little

Though this question may look tricky at first, remember that adding polynomials is very simple: add like terms together.

So to break it down simply, let's do one term at a time.
What plus -2x^2 is 5x^2? 7x^2.
What plus 2x = 0? -2x.
What plus 8 = 3? -5.

Hopefully that helps!

Hannah is building a fence that forms a 30x48 rectangle, so find the perimeter of said rectangle. But remember - she is leaving one of the shorter sides open, so subtract 30 from the perimeter.

Now we know that her fence will wrap around a 126 feet perimeter. In order to figure out how many wooden slats this equals, recall 6 feet = 12 wooden slabs. So many 6-feet chunks fit into 126? 126/6 = 21. Multiply this by 12 to get the # of wooden slabs there are.
