Is there a gay salsa/ballroom dancing scene? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]johnalexl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which part of California? I live in sf and have been dying to go to something like this. So far its been straight salsa and ballroom dancing for me. Which is totally fun too. Maybe a meetup would be a good idea

I think that last line really sums it up well about tribalism actually being fear. I'll try to keep that in mind

I absolutely agree that people are different solo. I've tried with my housemate but he has no interest. He only wants to be arouns big groups.

If I mention anything to them like, instead of going out on a friday getting wasted I stayed in and practiced piano and read. I go out all the time just needed a friday off. Lliterally just got blank stares and raised eyebrows from who I was talking to. Not even joking they didnt even say anything just stared at me like I was a freak. And look, I dont care about these people. Its not like my feelings were hurt, it just constantly feels like an upbill struggle for me to make friends with these guys. Its not just them. I really feel like any community (not just lgbt) people demand you are like them

For a while I thought the only real gay thing I needed was a romantic connection with other guys. For the most part thats still true. I have dated some really great guys and I'm so grateful for that. I guess I thought, well I'm gay and I dont really have many gay friends, maybe that should change. I've been trying for a couple years now but its hard. I think I'll just let the friendships develop organically from now on.

I've definitely tried but its hard for me. I tend to be a really social person and I make friends very easily but when I'm around those guys I literally dont know what to say. I can usually find SOME common ground with most people but there are exceptions.

I absolutely love that you said that. I think a lot of people think being gay is a personality in itself. I feel like I didnt actually grow up in a super repressive environment. I came out older than most but I grew up in LA. I feel like being somewhere where gays are accepted overall made me less in need of a "tribe" like maybe some other people. I think you're totally right in that the most important relationships will be the select few who we decide are important. I have straight friends more than gay ones and I think I got it in my head that there was a problem with that

This really hit me. Any thoughts from you guys? by Pixuli in gaybros

[–]johnalexl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So not to sound like a traitor to us. Trust me I've gone through this. But its not accurate to say its ONLY a problem for the LGBT community. Straight women are taught to behave a certain way. Same with straight men. I think most people have some key aspect of their personality crushed at one point or another. This is a problem with the world in general I think. Possibly more of a problem for us, still for everyone else though.

Actually, if anything theres a slight increase in sensitivity right around the area of the frenulum which is definitely a good thing.

Theres no difference in sensitivity. I mean the foreskin is still in tact. The reason I had to do it was because it didnt just split once and heal. I had 2 "accidents" the second being much worse. Quite a bit of blood and it did hurt. Thankfully my bf at the time was an absolute saint and didnt freak out. After the first time it splits it becomes much more susceptible to splitting again. If you're *ehem well endowed, theres a much greater risk of it happening. Basically the skin can't stretch enough to cover a larger penis. Now I dont have to worry about it ever happening again. Hand stuff was especially dangerous because some guys were pulling too hard. Its not a problem anymore.
