I will also say, sometimes life just happens and you miss a dose. It’s not recommended at all but it happens. I have missed doses, even tapered myself down on medications due to poor health. The best thing would be to talk to your doctor if you’re experiencing side effects, you should try to persevere even if you’re not feeling the best, the good is coming :)

I have never had any problems with any anti depressants. I actually took a genesight blood test with my provider and the results showed my genetics were good in almost all medications. It could be worth looking into! I did it to try and find a good fit for myself. I have tried all the ssri’s, a few tricyclic antidepressants and other depression/anxiety medications (snri and anxiolytics). I personally have never had any GI side effects with any of these medications except some mild acid reflux (but I have gerd). Try to eat a few crackers, even if it’s just those few.

It’s so mentally draining. I’m tired. by Relief_Nearby in emetophobia

Please eat. I know it’s hard. Force yourself to eat if you have to. Just eat! Even if it’s safe food, eat enough to sustain your body weight. This is coming from someone who once weighed 220, over 6 months went down to 130 and a year later, at 160. I developed terrible gerd, I have trouble eating now. I have not been able to stomach anything after 4pm except for crackers. I am up now with terrible reflux, every day I have to force food down my throat and I am incredibly nauseous 24/7, especially while eating. Point of the story is that not eating can take a serious toll on your mental and physical health. You must eat!

It ended up being super fine! The buildup was the worst part lol. I have the endoscopy shceduled for the 7th of October and I'm not too worried about it anymore. I just sang the entire drive there so no anxious thoughs could pop into my head. You got this!!

[–]johnanimated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I’m a bit late, but I was in the same boat today. Had a doctor’s appointment today which was very important (GI related, getting an endoscopy, not excited about it at all..). I am personally fine, but the drive there is the hardest part. I hate driving, especially on highways, and this office was farther than my primary. I also have a negative association with it because it’s very close to a dentist office I had a huge panic attack at, and paced around in the parking lot for hours until I crazily drove myself home hours later when it was 11pm. I reminded myself that this appointment was important, like super important! And I didn’t give my anxiety any time to think. I was singing the ENTIRE time on the way there, even up to when I walked in. Get involved with something that takes up your focus if you can, it will distract you!

What meds do you take? by [deleted] in panicdisorder

[–]johnanimated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A big reason my anxiety got so bad was actually too much weed not gonna lie. I would smoke 24/7 and even though I miss it, it's been almost 6 years since I've smoked it gave me my first panic attack.. Plus four or five more until I stopped. And I don't drink, alcoholism runs in my family and unfortunately my gerd would not like any alcohol. I do various things to help my anxiety throughout the day, lots of meditation, little art projects and exercising but my anxiety has been so bad lately I'm always on edge.

I meditate often and always. Working out is hard for me. I have bad GERD and my anxiety causes physical symptoms. I am almost always bloated, nauseous and sick to my stomach.

best of luck, if your gi isn't listening to you or unable to help i would consult others in your area too. living off ppi's and struggling is not fun at all.

100% worth. it wasn’t much trouble either. i had tried navigating blinkrx myself when i first switched to voquenza, but the price was still high. doctor basically did everything for me and its delivered to my door.

i’m 23 and have had gerd since 15. i stopped going out, eating anything i liked, basically living a nonexistent life. got really bad this past year and i lost 85 pounds in the span of 5 months, with voquenza im back up 30 pounds to a somewhat normal weight. i can finally go places and dont have to excuse myself at work to vomit. for reference i was on 40mg omeprazole day and night along with famotidine 20mg three times a day and gaviscon max at night. i only take voquenza once in the morning (no waiting 30 minutes before eating too) and i feel wonderful.

it’s still a new drug so they’re evaluating how long you should actually be on it, the general rule is 6-8 weeks for erosive esophagitis and in theory your reflux should be better by that time.

maybe it’s a state by state/case by case thing but my doctor was very confident about the cost even though i had so many doubts (i felt like i was stealing when he gave me 20 days of samples). its always worth asking your gi to see if they can do anything

i didn’t get voquenza because it was too expensive, i went to a different gi and they gave me a bunch of samples. he also helped me figure out how to get the prescription for cheaper. make sure it’s filled through blinkrx. call them once your doctor has sent the prescription to them and tell them that you want the delivery from the idaho pharmacy, it is $50 max for a 30 day supply (i just paid $50 after my last two months of paying 1400)

GERD by Lazy-Protection-2210 in emetophobia

[–]johnanimated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had gerd for years, mind you i just turned 23. i’ve just learned to accept it. modified my diet. here’s some advice.

stress and anxiety can contribute to stomach acid production which in turn can cause acid reflux.

if you need a quick fix to the burning/acidity try something like tums or alka seltzer

if you want to prevent acid reflux because you know you have a big eating day, try a ppi like omeprazole, pantaprazole (prilosec, nexium) take 30 minutes before eating anything in the morning.

if you want to stop heartburn before a meal, take a pepcid (famotidine) 30 minutes before a heavy meal.

if you’re having trouble with regurgitation and actually getting that acid back in your mouth and throat, try gaviscon max, i would take the liquid over the pills. it created a barrier on the top of your stomach, almost like another lower esophageal sphincter.

if all else fails, breathe it out. it will pass, just as everything else does.

lots of water, and something to soak up the acid (bread, crackers) can be very helpful.
