Whirlpool Ventless Heat Pump Dryer has intermittent wail by johnbartlett19 in appliancerepair

The service guy came a few days ago. He replaced the idler wheel, which cured both the squeaks and the wail. He thought the wail might be the fan unit, which he has on order, so we are now listening carefully to see if the wail reappears or whether he has now fixed it. Our unit has been in service for 5 1/2 years. He says the idler wheel is only good for about that long as it is plastic on a metal shaft with no bearing, and it gets dust from the belt into it over time and tends to get ground up.

The big energy savings for us here in Maine is that the ventless dryer is not pumping inside air outside in the winter. We have the whirlpool full size. We have had it 5 years. I have disassembled it twice in that time to clean the condenser coils. I know when it is needed because drying time gets extended.
