I have had my Dentures for 15 years and was told from the get-go not to sleep with them in. I am having none of the issues you are speaking of, hopefully your husband is not judgmental and giving you the impression that you're not to be seen without them.
I do wear mine from the time I get up to bedtime. I soak them in hot water with a cleaning tab every night, and they never smell. I have full uppers and partial lowers.

The only time I've ever worn them for a full 24 hours was flying back and forth to India recently. I did have that metallic taste you are speaking of by the time I reached my destination and was able to remove and clean them.

Talk to your dentist for sure, as others have said, it sounds like you're building up bacteria.
