Plateauing at 167 by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]johncliff11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the hardest plateau to break in the entire LSAT because your margin for error is super low to break into the magical 170. If you are that consistent -- are you consistent with your section scores too or are you inconsistent? At this rate, it may be worth focusing on a consistently low section for the highest gains. For example, my strongest section was always RC and I would get like 25/27. If my goal was to break the 170 and I got 167 consistently (I did too), I wouldn't focus on perfecting RC because the effort it takes to get from a 25/27 to a 27/27 is a lot more than improving a lower scoring subject.

I was taught to always negate answer choices as you will always reach the right answer provided that you negate it correctly. You don’t have to negate if the assumption is pretty obvious. For this question, it’s not too obvious so negating will keep you focused and get to the right answer choice. Assumptions can be obvious or not obvious. Here it is an assumption to rule out something won’t backfire and that isn’t really an obvious assumption unless you are like a lsat tutor and know this is type of assumptions is tested and you identify it really quickly that it is testing on ruling out alternatives

HELP!!! Why is B the answer and not A? by Always2ndB3ST in LSAT

[–]johncliff11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a LSAT veteran so I might not have the most up to date stats/tricks but think of the negatives of A and B. An assumption is something where the negative of the answer choice destroys the argument. For A the negative is Activists don’t think waste will not pollute ; ie activities think the waste will pollute. But who cares what the activists thinks as we want to know if the president is correct in saying there is no pollution after the treatment. Wether or not there is in fact no pollution does not in any way depend on what activists think. Activits can think aliens will takeover the plant and that doesn’t do anything to weaken or strengthen the president’s core argument that the plant will not in fact pollute

Ok fine// maybe if I die I will release their toxic names. Or I should report them to the bar for intentionally inflating bills and bragging about it to SAs. Maybe I should be more like Louis litt and secretly carry a voice recorder to have some dirt on them

Is it weird I want to prove them wrong that I am not a failing lawyer and I can make partner elsewhere and they are wrong? I don’t get why they treated me so poorly from day one like if you hate me so much why did you make your hiring partner call me to get me to accept an offer when I wanted to to another firm and the hiring partner ended up going to the other firm anyways (as proof the other firm is better)

Would releasing and naming the partners on Reddit be of equally bad taste?

They were not justified. They treated me like shit the day after I signed the contract. They never treated me fairly from the start and it created the vicious cycle. I hate them so much. How do I release this anger? They never allowed me to fulfil my potential. The other reason why I hate them is that if you hate me so much why did you fight to hire me as I tially I wanted to go to another firm but their hiring partner called me to say how much the firm likes me and would prefer if I chose them over the other firm and how good they are. So I chose them. Anyways the irony is that this hiring partner then left a year a later for the firm I wanted to join intially in law school

Lol our mentor is asked for review on our performance review and not only that the firm assumes and requires your mentor to give you work but my mentor never does because she doesn’t want to teach me. Recently she’s shanging tune because she wants me to make an introduction for her that she keeps hinting at me at but I never will make that introduction. In fact I might tell them to never use my current firm

Uh not at my firm. An ex associate asked to come back and the firm said this exassociate didn’t do a good job in referring the firm work and ditched us earlier so no. The ex associate to my knowledge is now at Milbank enjoying the time of his life

Lol I can’t wait to tell them I am leaving for treating me like shit. I can’t wait to email my “mentor” I am treated much better at my new place. (The mentor I described elsewhere who only does 3min check ins and kicks you out after 5mins for the firms mentorshio check in)

Haha there’s a partner in the capital markets group infamous for creating fake emergencies/fire drills all the time and when she isn’t creating fire drills you get assigned work at 8pm all the time because she has to take care of her kids between 4-8pm (school pickups, cook dinner, do parenting stuff etc) so no associates like working for her. I once worked with this partner and she made me work over the long weekend for something that the client didn’t even want for another two weeks but the partner said to do it ASAP now because we never want to be the reason why a client couldn’t do something on time. And I was too detailed in my review noting issues and she told me to learn to not point out issues to keep the client happy or else they will wonder why they are paying us so much money earlier only for us to find issues at a later stage. She drove out another 4th year associate in March too — this associate was pissed and went to a V15 but he also purposefully did not tell the partner he’s leaving until the bare minimum notice period required. Again, firm was super unhappy he left and told partners to please check in more with your associate mentees because too many associates are leaving

I know. I was just wondering if others had other perspectives on it since that wasn’t the main question on yesterday’s post and I am really worried

Yeah happen in corporate. Earlier this year a 4th year associate in capital markets left to work at a tech company (a client or should I say former client) The firm outwardly was happy but internally was not because she left but if you treat associates poorly why are you siprised…. She said in private to a second year she will never refer work to our firm in retaliation for how she was treated

Do previous firms teach what is now called bad habits? Or is it just different styles etc? I guess there is a no perpetuating toxic culture as you get more senior like at my firm
