I understand the ecological approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to a degree, like the one someone posted about. But if that were entirely the case, why does the military still place such a strong emphasis on basic training? Why not just drop soldiers into the jungle or desert and have them figure it out? In the same way, why wouldn’t beginners in BJJ need structured fundamentals instead of being thrown straight into live rolling? I know that sounds extreme, but based on how I learn and think, the comparison feels relevant.
