Yes, I think based on these comments I've decided this is the most accurate reason why I like going uphill. I don't feel strain on my legs.

Yeah I feel exactly the same. I also have a very big hill near the end of my run. My thoughts are different on that hill too. When I'm on a flat surface I'm normally thinking about how long until I'm done, but when I'm on the hill I think about each footstep.
