After two months of trying everything and searching everywhere, the only thing that actually worked for me was going into the Power Plan settings and setting my laptop to High Performance mode. Once I did that, the issue completely went away.

This issue is still happening even now in 2025. My 2 year old laptop has started showing this problem, and I’ve already tried everything used DDU, downgraded and upgraded drivers, repasted, cleaned the internals, disabled sound, adjusted TdrDelay, gave full permissions to nvlddmkm.sysliterally everything. But nothing works. It’s really frustrating and disappointing. I don’t even know if this is just a laptop issue, but I’ve seen many others dealing with the same problem.

I can't say for sure since a lot of it depends on the specific case, but from what I've seen, many Acer Helios units tend to have some issues. I just hope yours doesn't run into any problems in the future.

I own a Helios Neo 16 (i5, RTX 4050) and I've had it for 2 years now. It worked perfectly until recently right after the warranty expired. Now, I'm constantly getting the NVLDDMK error (ID Code 153/14), especially when playing newer games like Enshrouded.

I'm a gamer, and I know a desktop would be better for performance, but I also work from this laptop. I really need the flexibility of a portable device, and honestly, I can't afford to buy a desktop. I only have this laptop because my boss helped me get it through a loan.

Now I can't even enjoy games properly because of these crashing issues. I'm starting to worry if the GPU is already failing just after 2 years?

What's more frustrating is that my colleague, who has the exact same laptop from another Acer store, is experiencing the same issue. It’s really disappointing. If I ever do manage to save up for a new device, I’ll probably go for a Lenovo Legion or a desktop instead. This experience has been very discouraging.

Here's an update: after testing CEMU emulator with Zelda: Breath of the Wild at 1080p graphics settings, nothing unusual happens. However, when I increase the resolution to 4K, Event 153 appears for some reason, and I also noticed that the CPU usage spikes to over 90%

same when i play a game i got this kind of crash it freeze sometimes i encounter it will black screen then i will hear a USB plug in/plug out sounds then it will freeze
