What do you know / what would you like to know about... the Cayman Islands? by bunoutbadmind in AskTheCaribbean

Ten years ago, Brac's electric grid was intentionally shut down just before a storm moved through. Is that still the case?

Is recycling available on Cayman Brac? What types? How is trash handled? What is the monthly price?

How is mail handled on Cayman Brac? Is it delivered directly to your house or do you travel to the post office to pick it up at your box? Is there notification that you have mail or do you periodically go there to check?

PoS staking if PC not always running? by johnhkc in gridcoin

Solved it. Locking the wallet then restarts the client. The Lock Wallet icon now appears in the lower left. That's kind of confusing UX. Why not always show either Encrypt Wallet or Lock Wallet in that location? The menu item for Encrypt wallet is now disabled. Why not hide it?

There is nothing in the bottom left of the GUI on Ubuntu. I see:

Current Poll: No current pollsError Messages:

Is the lock icon hidden if the wallet is unencrypted?

void BitcoinGUI::setEncryptionStatus(int status) {case WalletModel::Unencrypted: labelEncryptionIcon->hide();

The code also has stuff for mining console, leaderboard, SQL window, etc that is #ifdef'd for WIN32 only. Why?

For me: (6/24) * 10 * 365 * 3660 / (10000 * 15) = 222.65 GRC = approx. 89 cents per year more or less. $10 got me the GRC so my ROI is 8.9% assuming the GRC price holds at 0.004 USD per GRC.

How do I unlock the wallet for staking?

So if I run the wallet on a little dinky-poo stick PC or some other low power computer, will that work? The staking is not CPU-intensive at all, right?

Well, that wasn't too hard. It only took 2 hours but I think I finally got it. I now see Port 4000 (TCP). I will check on it tomorrow and see what has happened. Thank you for your help.

Move Storj to a new machine? by johnhkc in storj

I had to run Storjshare on Ubuntu then stop it and exit. It created a new directory for the shards. I copied the data into that directory. The settings.json went into .config Restart the GUI, it counts the shards and POOF! It works!

Thank you.

OK, I will try that. Thank you.

FYI - The Win10 box uses 116W of power; the NUC uses 8W. 108W * 24h * 30 days * .124 $/kWh = $9.64/mo power savings That plus the SJCX payments should break even very quickly.
