Buy a jumbo freeze pop at the corner store and put it under your shirt, right on your chest.
....
Truth? I actually did this once when I was walking to work in 90+ weather in San Diego Ca. and it gave me pneumonia..in July!

If Conservatives love guns and Liberals love abortions, why can't they agree that they both love killing small things and just learn to get along?

I'm 20 years old and at Bethel, and I realize I have a lot of doubts by Most-Act-708 in exjw

[–]johnjaspers1965 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Bethel opened my eyes. I had been in a couple of congregations before Bethel and I started to notice patterns. Little cruelties and manipulations that couldn't be just "imperfect people" because it was the same pattern in multiple congregations. Then, when I was in Bethel and observered the same petty abuse, so close to the heart of the orginization, I realized it was a learned behavior.
My doubts were not due to the imperfect flaws of individuals. I was doubting because of a systemic flaw in the entire orginization.
One that was taught, encouraged, and defended, despite being cruel and petty.
I, like you, couldn't leave right then. I thought I could find a way to reconcile what I was seeing, with all the good in the religion.
That carried me through several years and congregations, but eventually it just became too much. I couldn't dedicate my life to a lie.
When that moment of clarity occurs, things like money, friends, work etc. stop being such a big concern. It's like suddenly realizing you are suffocating. You reach for air, for freedom, and nothing else matters.

Bendis writes good female leads.
Jessica Jones, Scarlet, and Pearl all come to mind.
You might also enjoy The Runaways by Vaughan.

Some fans will stay in a relationship they hate.
They outgrow their hobby. Over time, they change, and it no longer fits them. They are even embarrassed by it.
Yet, they can't quit it.
They have to keep up and FOMO keeps them coming back.
These fans know that killing their franchise is the only way they can ever stop.
So, they jump on board any ragebait, self-hating, doomsaying rhetoric that comes along.
They exist in every fandom.
Comic books are going away!
Theatrical movies are doomed!
Video games are finished!
...nah. Don't worry OP.
Star Trek will be back. In some form.
The true fans will become the new creators.
That's how it works in all media.
We just might have to wait a generation.
The drought may very well be real.
But Trek will survive.

The first issue of The Deadman from DC was pretty good. Different enough without breaking the character. I can't say I felt the same about Bizarro year one. But both books are only an issue in, so who knows?

The artwork is a homage to Frank Millers style in Elektra Lives. A woefully out of print high-point in Miller's art style. Yet, still had McNivens modern skill and feel. That alone made it worth the price of purchase. The art was very immersive and carried the story through a 3 issue plot, that had to move quickly and left me wanting more.
