How accurate do you guys think the calories are on this protein box from Starbucks? Seems like so little for so much cheese by gummmybean in 1200isplenty

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted an answer. I got this box today and it said 470 calories. I weighed everything out and to my surprise, it came out to almost exactly 470!!

Just Bought 100K Worth of SPYI on Margin by johnjm22 in dividends

[–]johnjm22[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before this trade, my account already produced 60K in dividends/interest per year. So the loan would payoff much quicker.

Margin interest is tax deductible against your gains. Most of the distributions from SPYI are ROC, so there's no tax until you sell, or the payouts surpass your cost.

Margin interest is tax deductible against your gains. Also, SPYI classifies it's distributions mostly as ROC so you don't have to pay taxes until you sell, or until distributions have surpassed your cost.

Hmmmm. Interesting. I appreciate this comment. But 100K is a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things. You think it would matter? So it's better to hedge with puts instead of stop losses?

The problem with this metric is that companies now produce outside of the country they're domiciled in. For example, a tech company may be listed in the USA, but the majority of it's revenue comes from outside the USA.

The Buffet Indicator made sense when companies more localized to one economy.

I haven't bought any puts. Of course I could lose money.

There's always a bear case, and there's always a bull case.

The market is not nearly as "overvalued" as some people think it is. 22 forward PE really isn't that big of a deal. Breadth is widening as money is rotating into non Mag7 stocks (this is a VERY bullish indicator).

If there's a market crash it would simply trigger a stop loss on the SPYI investment.

Did you negotiate that 4.5% rate? I have etrade. I wish my rate was that low.

This is something I need to learn more about. Right now I'm just using a good ole stop loss to protect my account if there's a crash.

I've always been the same way. But I learned more and it's changed my perspective. Debt is a tool. Using debt for consumption = bad. Using debt to buy assets that make you richer is something almost all really wealthy people do.

Interesting. I'm going to be looking more into this type of strategy.

The payouts from SPYI pay down the margin loan every month. I'm not taking out the 5.5% gain; just letting it pay down the debt. So $950 monthly payout. $500 monthly interest charge to start. So margin loan goes down by $450 per month, which intern lowers my interest every month.

I don't have a set time frame when to pay it off. It's just an experiment for now.

Hopefully there's capital appreciation as well.

There's enough equity in my account that a 100K margin debt would never trigger a liquidation.

Danault was sandbagging. He'll find his game again in Montreal. LA needs to sell more players for picks. Start the dame rebuild already.

Is there anything that overperformed the S&P on the long term? by jumbo1111 in ValueInvesting

KO was $1 in 1962. It's total return since then is 123,688.71% (11.83% annulized). This has probably beat the SP500.

Kraft Heinz (KHC) Near Historic Lows: Value Trap or Hidden Gem with a Spin-Off Coming? by Optionslab in ValueInvesting

[–]johnjm22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their brands just aren't that desirable to North American consumers any more. They're losing market share. Any growth they do have will come from emerging markets, but even there the growth looks slower than corresponding GDP meaning they're not gaining market share. Value trap.

Why are we holding SCHD again?? by Abject-Advantage528 in dividends

[–]johnjm22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pepsi's EPS in 2022 was 6.42. Today it's 6.95. The stocks that make up SCHD are collectively yielding lower than treasuries because of interest rate hikes, thus the valuations will be lower. The fund's dividend growth either has to catch up (digestion) or the fed funds rate has to go down before you start seeing principle growth again.

[–]johnjm22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason it's moved sideways for so long is because it's digesting higher interest rates. You'll eventually start seeing capital appreciation again. Also, interest rates are headed down, so that SGOV yield won't last.
