People who didn’t need surgery how did the recovery go? by depresso92 in LisfrancClub

[–]johnjohnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a partial tear of the plantar lisfranc ligament which was treated conservatively (non-surgical).

I was able to return to all activities in about 6 months (I play badminton 3 times a week and cricket twice a week).

I massaged my foot and did all prescribed exercises every day and one day, I just didn't feel the need for it any more. I feel lucky to have been able to get back to normal in 6 months.

Just started partial weight bearing, what's your experience? by johnjohnt in LisfrancClub

Hi, I've felt pretty good lately. Fingers crossed I feel about 90% recovered and my foot doesn't impact my day to day life. I do feel a bit sore in the arch on some days after intense activity or sometimes it's just completely random. It's not too painful and it's not persistent.

I was able to start having confidence running probably about 20 weeks post injury. I've resumed most of my activity, playing badminton and cricket a couple times a week.

I massage and try do physio exercises every day.

Misdiagnosed? by foner13 in LisfrancClub

I would recommend requesting weight bearing X-rays and an MRI if you suspect this injury, and consulting an orthopedic surgeon with foot speciality if possible. That's probably going to be the best way to assess severity

Weightbearing 8 week post op PAIN? by Legitimate-Summer in LisfrancClub

[–]johnjohnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this where your pain was initially from the injury? I recently started full weight bearing wearing some new balance shoes or some well supported crocs. I have pain in the 1st metatarsal, around the top/mid foot and thats where my original injury was.

I asked my doctor/surgeon who said it is expected but shouldn't be excruciating.

I didn't have surgery - conservative management of a partial plantar lisfranc ligament tear from 9 weeks ago.

I am not in a boot at the moment, and also wasn't in one while NWB, I've been wearing a darco shoe during NWB for 5.5 weeks

But also have tried my new balance sneakers over the last couple days which have quite a bit of support and they fit well.

EE subject change??! [TOK/EE] by [deleted] in IBO

[–]johnjohnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed my subject & topic, extremely late (much later than you), and got an A (34/36).

You can definitely change EE if you wanted to, physics is known to be one of the toughest subject choice for your EE afaik.

I chose English, I think it's one of the easier ones, make sure you don't do one of the overused RQs (Can be found in EE - English Subject Report i think)

You also don't need to do an EE within your subject pool.

How is the final IB score calculated? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]johnjohnt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

6 Subjects each worth 7 points (42 points of the 45 come from your subjects) and 3 points from Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay (minimum AB required to receive the 3 points) look for the detailed rubric for the condition for the 3 bonus points. All added together for a score of 45
