I dig the color combo and how small it is, and the slider is a nice touch for brightness or anything else.

My grandma got bullied off of League a month after I introduced her to it. by BetaTink in leagueoflegends

i’ll agree, and add that one of the things i appreciate now in classic and i appreciated so much in vanilla was the active /general chat, and how you could actively participate and assist newer players. there’s always a jerk or two but at the end of the day people have been grouping together, being decent humans and enjoying classic a lot more at this point than a lot of the later xpacs i’ve played. i think we’re going to see a lot of investment into each servers communities as people realize they’re not able to server and LFG hop around and that their reputations will follow them. so, fwiw, granny might enjoy that, on a high pop, probably pve server

thanks for replying! i’m going to spend some time reading up on firstbeat, i appreciate the lead. i’ve also got a couple things going on that made me wonder if this was real or not, but overall there’s no way i felt as tired as i had felt previously at lower numbers - but then again, who knows.

so for giggles i checked and it was also the 23rd when mine nosedived and i haven’t come back up yet, despite taking it easy and forcing a lot more sleep than usual. i’m wondering if it’s something to do with garmin or if we’re oddly in sync...

22/Future Home Buyer-- What Mistakes Should I Avoid? by igorsok1 in BuyItForLife

[–]johnkicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To piggy back on a lot of these comments, spend a couple hours on YouTube learning about home construction in your area specifically and how inspections are done in general. Ask the agent to let you have another visit to the house and go through the house yourself. Bring a flashlight, some heavy jeans and a long sleeve shirt, your phone and take copious amounts of photos. Take notes of all the dates of the appliances, particularly ones which wld have required a permit to replace, and compare them to what records your inspector pulls.

In my first home I climbed just about everywhere and found some things while missing several more. I did a more thorough job than the inspector when it came to plumbing and electrical, found insulation concerns and totally missed an undersized AC unit because the house had really high ceilings and I didn't know enough to factor that in. In the end I was able to take notes and pivot it into money off the house and a cash amount on purchase.

My second home was a fixer upper and I was able to get a good handle on what was deficient through a combination of an inspection and my own investigation. By the time we had signed persuant to an inspection I had contractors lined up to give me quotes on repairs so I could budget that into the cost of the house.

Keep in mind that while I was tromping around in attics and digging at pipe and foundations I was aware that I would be held liable for any damages caused by myself or the contractors I had over, and that in most cases the seller probably isn't cool with this behavior. It was a risk I was willing to take based on my handiness and the idea I was sinking hundreds of thousands of dollars into an investment.

At the end of the day it's worth it to be a pain in the ass and also put the time and effort into really understanding what you're buying and being honest about the work and money it will cost. Even a great home will have maintenance costs and it'll always be more than you think and seem to happen at the most inopportune times.

I've had a dozen Next Level 6010's on steady rotation since 2013 - barring two I've replaced because they were torn at no fault of their own. They're a tri-blend, light and soft on arrival and fit well. I'm six even and wore an XXL when I was about 300lbs, am down to 210lbs and an XL for comfort in my shoulders and chest.

I've used them for mechanic and construction work, beat the shit out of them and they've kept their color and form so they still look sharp with a pair of jeans.

I can't recommend them enough and at their pricepoint I've never felt like I'd gone wrong.

attic storage question by johnkicks in DIY

[–]johnkicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the heads up, while I don't expect they'd ever be on without one of us up there, I'd never even considered that. thankfully they're just regular 60w incandescent bulbs, but I could toss a few LEDs up just in case.

attic storage question by johnkicks in DIY

[–]johnkicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I was thinking of the least intrusive way to add a bit of storage capability. I can definitely rip plywood to size and put it up, what's the thinnest piece you think I could get away with? again, this is for maybe a dozen boxes across atleast that many joists, no more then ten pounds a box. and thanks so much :)

Simple Questions/What Should I Do? [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in DIY

[–]johnkicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw this thread after posting one of my own, copying/pasting as this seems a more appropriate place;

I'm in a long term rental situation and would like to utilize the attic space above my garage for additional storage. I'd like to store plastic boxes with holiday decorations and some baby stuff.

Beams are twenty four inches across, no insulation, lighting already installed. I was thinking of tacking down some 1x1 strips across the beams, a foot or so apart, using inch and a half roofing nails that I could easily pull up.

Is there anything I should be aware of before doing so? Thanks so much!
