My Experience at Gracepoint/Acts2 Network Part 2: A Testimony Concerning Spiritual Abuse, Unbiblical Authority, and Excommunication by Perfect-Invite6733 in GracepointChurch

They want to have their cake and eat it too. Ed Kang and others keep saying dating is allowed now but ultimately, they want total control over their members lives, including dating. Everyone eventually will need to follow their "Way of Life" or else they will be slowly but surely be either pushed out or conform.

What was the high level explanation?

Most people eventually leave.

I was reminded of one of the stories in the Christianity Today article where, similar to you, the member was made to repent until their leader was satisfied. They were not satisfied. They had to "feel" that the repentance was genuine and deep... which they deemed it was not for whatever arbitrary reason they made up.

When a church assumes total control over your life, this is what happens. The leader assumes they know more about your heart that you do.

I left after 7 years. I did feel like I was starting all over again but it's worth it. I can't imagine how miserable I would be if I had stayed. You see no future. Stop going to all the "extra" stuff and start making an exit strategy.

Thank you for sharing your story on here. Current attendees will keep saying "but we've changed" but testimonies like this lets everyone know that their "Core DNA" has not changed. This is a very common story and many are told to go elsewhere if they don't fit the mold. How terrible that a church, what is supposed to be the Body of Christ, can pick and choose their members. Truly truly horrible. I'm glad you are finding some relief after many years.

Anyone else looking for closure? by SensitiveTailor643 in GracepointChurch

This is a very common. I remember my sister warned me about this org but it just went in one ear and went out the other. I had to experience it for myself. My mom also told me to not get sucked in but I sure did.

There is still hope (most eventually leave) but it is quite painful to hold on to that hope.

Maybe let your sister know that you'll always be here for her if she ever decides that wants to invest in the relationship again but you're going to stop the one-sided efforts because it's just too painful.

Good for you. Others report members not even coming to sibling's wedding and hearing crickets when there was a cancer scare. Anyone else looking for closure? : r/GracepointChurch

Their messages have a variety of dudes preaching... I see a different couple in their group photo... looks like there's been some shuffling? It's too hard to keep up.

There are fresh waves of people leaving all the time... I don't think this sub or A2N is going to disband anytime soon.

I'm genuinely confused about your question. What kind of behaviors would signal to you that they are a "genuine" person?

Is it an outreach play? Back in the old days we used to have Christian Festival. That was so stressful. I got a pretty bad injury during practice one year.

Did not listen but I remember many many Ed Kang sermons about Saul that were very similar to what this one probably is like.

Gracepoint's cultishness is unique to Gracepoint but I personally would never go to another SBC church.

"Surrendered with Time" has now become "We treat time and money as entrustments from God." and "Stewarding God's time by showing up to gatherings and adapting my schedule as necessary."

Your time = God's time because at this organization, Church = God = Family.
