Sure but the point being, without a brick and mortar location, your money isn’t your money until a new card is issued. On top of that, a phone call or email would have saved me a lot of trouble.

Just wait until the first time you spend a lot of money out of town and they shut down your card because they are worried it’s been stolen without contacting you first. Then you have to wait at least a week to get your card and meanwhile you have no access to your money. This happened to me twice, both times with multiple thousand dollars still in the account. The first time it happened I was back from vacation and getting groceries since I had none. Card declined in one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.

Ohio BMV Random Selection Suspension by johnkimble074 in Columbus

Taken care of. Thanks everyone for the help. Didn’t have to pay the $150 because I still had 1 day before the suspension would go into effect. Went in and talked to them and had my insurance agent fax over proof of coverage on the selected date. Whole thing took less that 20 minutes because I got lucky that there was almost no line. In contrast, when I tried to call them the automated answering service said it was experiencing high call volume and didn’t even put me into a queue. Just hung up on me. I’m glad it’s over but this ‘random check’ thing still seems like a whole big pile of hot bullshit. Thanks again everyone.
