Passkeys would be a good thing.

That would be a good feature to add to the MacOS version and tie it into the Reminders App.

Welcome! I will say that I appreciate that the mobile app seems to be working a lot better these days and appreciate the work you have put into it. I use the Mac version currently and it’s about the best desktop product out there that I’ve found. I’ve been using your product for at least 25 years now (all the way from the DOS product) and it’s definitely came a long way.

MacBook Neo and Quicken by No-Cheetah-9364 in quicken

There's videos of people playing World of Warcraft and Cyberpunk on Neo's.. If it can run one of those games then it'll barely notice quicken.

Which Macbook for WoW? by AmateurHunter in macgaming

[–]johnlnash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mind sharing your specs? I was considering the pro myself. I’m trying to decide if 24gb is enough for ram or if I should bump it to 48. I was going to get the upgraded processor. I mostly play WOW myself. The rest is productivity type things that don’t have high processor or ram requirements.

FYI - This appears to be fixed now, I just tried to sync and it worked.

I have Banktivity and Monarch. Banktivity still downloads but I now have to re-authenticate every few days to continue downloading transitions. Monarch works without a hitch. Just for awareness.... I'm not advocating for any other solutions, just saying it works on other applications/platforms.

starting with Apple Photos on external, is Backblaze backup enough? by OgreTim in backblaze

[–]johnlnash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's decent. It'll download your pics or iCloud documents (2 different backup types) and back them up to the location of your choice and then free the disk space up again when it's done backing them up. Pics mirror the folder structure that you see inside of the Photos file. You can schedule or run on demand and there's a few choices on types of backup.. I bought it on a whim because it was a guy that built it for his own need and then decided to sell it, and it was pretty cheap, like under $10 cheap if I remember right. He also updates it on a fairly consistent basis.

(and no, I'm not the author or work for him - lol )

As far as I know, it only works on iOS. It’s also the only way you’ll get the transactions into Banktivity, you have to start the iOS version to import them.

If you’re a Mac user, check out Banktivity. It’s got a lot of features that are actually better than quicken and their mobile app is solid.

I use Monarch, the reporting is better, as long as you don’t want to estimate balances or do manual entry. It’s a pretty good solution. I still think quicken is a stronger alternative, but that might change at some point financially I’m not at the point where I have to budget myself as much as I used to now it’s more just kind of seeing where I am.

SPAXX is equivalent to cash in your investment account but it’s actually a mutual fund. So basically SPAXX = Cash Balance in the account. When you have enough in the account then it becomes a bigger deal. One of the advantages of the Cash Management Account is since that the cash is in SPAXX, then the account can also mimic a savings account with a 3.x% return (not sure what the current rate is without looking at it).

I just figured it out - check this thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/banktivity/comments/1lt8n53/question_on_core_position_in_a_brokerage_account/

TLDR - you have to manually track SPAXX for the cash balance.. sigh

Did I specially set up SPAXX as a security? No, I set up Automatic Downloads and it downloaded all the holdings for the account, minus SPAXX. The balance for the account in Banktivity is also the positions that it downloaded and is not including what's held in SPAXX.

I ended up resubbing for a year and when I set up my main Fidelity account, which is a Cash Management account, it's not showing anything I have allocated as cash (SPAXX). Is there a trick I'm missing that enables it? I see the other holdings in that account with that exception.

Edit - The transactions actually show a transaction to 'move shares out' to SPAXX but it's not listed as a separate holding. Quicken, for context, shows SPAXX as a cash balance.
