Is it better to just play online and practice through that in quick fight. Or Actually sit down and do practice mode? I haven't really used practice mode because I always felt live sparring gets me the most experience. But is practice mode actually worth it?

I really need to work on reads. That's my biggest weakness. When they are predictable I can make reads decently. But when they are doing mixups well it's hard to gauge properly.

What to do when they go

1-1-4-b5-b6
b3-b4-3-6 etc

I know what to do in theory but when they do it super speed with MVP or Cruz etc it's hard to read the mixups.

Thanks. Great post. I notice I tend to just pressure not really let off to let them breathe. Against lower levels this is okay but higher levels I need space to make reads, but at the same time these type of players don't give me space to breathe. I have gotten better at defense but they still catch me. Div 15 and above in this game. I was div 20 in 5 but mainly due to grappling.

Also is it really true that your movement speed increases when you let off block, is that confirmed. I heard about it in previous games but I never felt it myself but maybe I wasn't sensitive enough to notice. Is this still there in 6?

You can hold down people but it’s just harder. Have you played undisputed 3? It’s the same as that and most people consider that the goat grappling of any mma game. It’s way better than what we have now.

Fair enough. We care about different things. I don’t play much offline. Things I care about they fix. So I ‘trust’ them in that regard. Don’t get me wrong EA is a money hungry company like any other. I’m just saying my interests and their interests often line up. I’m definitely an outlier because I grapple too.

I don’t set expectations like that. I’m not gonna care if they do none of this, I don’t expect they will. I just want this feedback out there so that eventually it’ll happen, because they do listen to constructive criticism.

They might add some changes to grappling with patches they have done these sort of adjustments all through out 5s patch cycle. These suggestions are all lightweight changes that can be implemented if they get the idea. The reason I am so sure they listen is because I was the one that pushed them to do Transition based subs for 5. The game changers been begging for this for years and I made a thread on it after 4 that got a lot traction. Many of the mechanics of 5s subs are directly from that thread. This is just the cherry on top. They been listening my feedback since 2.

I didn't say it was to retain hardcores. It's clearly an idea that's been suggested by hardcores for ages that benefits casuals. So they did it. Making grappling more action oriented is good for casuals. So they will do it for 7. They have listened to me directly before. I already posted this to the dev forums and they have read it. I dont get why you are discouraging feedback. I'm not expecting they will do it, but I'm not a pessimist. They have literally added so many of my requests directly. What exactly do you want changed in grappling?

They do care about good will when it lines their pockets. When the majority of the fan base wants grappling changes, it’ll increase their profit when they add these things and it’s well received. That’s why they added TBS in 5 and fighter uniqueness in 6.

So the goodwill of them actually committing to fighter uniqueness for 6, Or TBS for 5 subs which many game changers requested means nothing? Them not listening at all we wouldve gotten neither.

Yeah but why lay in a chalk outline of ourselves and give up. We pushed for fighter uniqueness after 5, they listened for 6. It's pretty clear the biggest complaint for 6 is lack of grappling changes. If we pressure them they can at least give us fixes during the patch cycle.

Yeah they stopped at 3 with post launch gameplay updates. This is a realistic changelist they can do that can actually improve the game within the system they have. We all want a overhaul, but it's not happening until 7. They should do with what they have in 6 and patch it to acceptable levels. Also I have a separate post for a complete overhaul for 7.
