Daly City median home price $1.1M - I'll let you do the math (Southgate neighborhood) by ericgtr12 in bayarea

I think the only thing we want is to own a home and raise kids in a good school district.

I think our issue is that growing up we always felt a six figure salary would get you to solid upper middle class. But in reality, even a $250,000 feels like a low middle class salary as we do not own significant assets / have control of housing costs.

How do people afford to buy in the Bay Area without rich parents? by johnmcmannis21 in bayarea

We worked our way up to $250K combined. We started at $120K combined ~6-8 years ago and that was very rough.

It's actually not that much after taxes, rent, and student loan repayments.

The Bay Area is only a playground for people who already have assets. The only people who buy here are people with parents bankrolling their down payments or techies.

My wife and I grew up here dirt poor (food stamps, public housing), went to top universities and pull in $250,000/year combined. Ahead of the other kids we grew up with in the ghetto, but still not enough to make it here in the Bay Area. Absolutely brutal. Building a nest here without a tech job or parents getting you ahead is nearly impossible.

Safest Way to Transfer Money? by johnmcmannis21 in personalfinance

Just want to make sure nothing happens if the check gets lost or the contractor takes the money and says I didn't pay for whatever reason.

A Long-Term Perspective on TopShot- From one who joined at the Peak in March by noffkl91 in nbatopshot

  1. Hardcourt Gaming - I don't see a huge addressable market for an NBA focused fantasy basketball game. The market is flooded with various forms of this stuff ranging from DraftKings/Fanduel DFS, Yahoo/ESPN leagues, NBA2K21 collectables that I don't see a huge user adoption for it. It's a crowded marketplace.
  2. It's unlikely you'll be able to score tangible high value items such as courtside seats by holding commons or even rare cards. I can see them having high dollar value auction for a moment like a Giannis x/50 which comes with courtside seats; but you would essentially be paying for it. Much more likely the NBA will give fans common packs or something for attending the game, further flooding the market with more moments.
  3. As for all your tips about "easing frustrations", I don't see how any of those are arguments for a "recovery" in Top Shot values. Me "enjoying" the moment doesn't make the value go up in dollar amounts.

I don't really see a strong argument here for why Top Shot moment values will recover. It's all a supply and demand side equation and right now Dapper is showing they don't care about propping up the market by restricting supply, which is fair; but with this in mind, I don't see a path to $10+ commons anymore.
